"Let's look 4 the purple bananna til they put us in the truck"
Could this mean "Let's look for God until it's all over"? A sort of follow up to 1999?

"Annie Christian, Annie Christ
Until you're crucified I'll live my life in taxicabs. The rest of the song I understand, but the taxicab bit confuses me. My best guess is that he's using a taxi to symbolize a shelter, or protection from the dangers of the outside world. In which case, if P.'s at all consistent with his metaphors, it might be worth going over the lyircs to "Lady Cab Driver" as well. A friend who's starting to get into Prince asked me if Prince'd ever been homeless when he heard these two songs. In our area, homeless people will often hire a cab if they've got the money when it's raining, so they've got a dry place to stay for a while that's safe and where they won't be harassed by police or the rowdy rich kids who think it's funny to beat up homeless folks. and figured it out. ok, so what did that mean? I believe that some JW's believe that Jesus already returned in 1914 and conquered the devil. Don't quote me on that. A friend of mine tried to explain it but was new to that theology as well. Any JW's here that can make it more clear?

Quite a few. Mostly they're lyrics that my dumbass doesn't understand while everyone else does.
Starfish and Coffee Ballad of Dorothy Parker um, I know there are plenty of others. Brain died. [Edited 5/12/05 11:37am] Don't hurt me, I'm a newb. I'm supposed to be stupid.

I'm just guessing, but I think the date 1914, the beginning of WWI, marks the era of mass-production killing devices like tanks, automatic weapons, bombs, etc -which by the generosity of the United States and Russia- have been 'mass-supplied' to the world's civil wars ever since. Think L.A. gun shops on every corner, on a much larger scale. "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion" -- Martha Graham

Ok, well this has always confused me. Not that don't have an imagination or anything but:
Something about a little box with a Mirror and a tongue inside... What in the hell was P planning to do with all that? I have thought about it, somethings ultimately going to be licked but, I'm still trying to figure out where the box and mirror plug in. [Edited 5/12/05 9:25am] Shake....shake, shake, shake.

Amd "Give back the chains! If U don't , U will die! Nothing should come between U and I!!!" The first means "I love you" The second has to do with the Princess of Cairo and is explained in the "lost segues" I don't know exactly what the chains are...but Victor stole the princess and is being sought after by 7 guards of the king. Starfish and Coffee Ballad of Dorothy Parker Elephants and Flowers um, I know there are plenty of others. Brain died. Starfish and Coffee...about an autistic girl...The Chorus line is just poetry, the rest of it is pretty easy to figure out. Ballad of dorothy Parker...is about a guy in a not so good relationship and he comes accross another who thinks he's cute and wants him. But he's faithful and can't do anything with her. I'm not certain if he ends up with her or if he goes back to his girlfriend. Christian Zombie Vampires

Judas Smile seems like he's bashing record companies racist practices and that verse may be speaking about an artist that has sold out. Desire, it covers our faces

That's just Prince "runnin'"...meaning he's really not talkin' 'bout shit in particular, just fuckin' around with lyrics. All the sisters like it when u lick 'em on the knees Don't believe me? (no) Try it once then stop, they'll be begging Please, please, please (please, please, please) Shoo be doo wa, dead on it What does that have 2 do with the funk? Nothing, but who's paying the bills? If u don't wanna lick my knees, I'm sho' your mama will Uh, cuz we, cuz we, cuz we dead on it Sort of runnin. But the song is about how he's better than rappers...or at least most of them. The only good rapper is the one that's dead on it...meaning dope/tight/can actually carry a tune. I think lickin the knees Could be a reference to his racy lyrics...becasue all the sisters DO like it when he licks them on the knees (referring to women swooning over his sexy lyrics). He is saying that he's better and his music is better than rappers non-musical music at the time. He's saying "I make great music...why do I have to rap like the others you want me to...what I do is just as good). He asks the record companies "what does rap have to do with the funk? Nothing...but who's paying the bills" WHich could either mean he is or "new rappers" are. It's hard to tell if that line is aimed at him or the record companies or both. In other words "why should I do that when I can do this?" Christian Zombie Vampires
