That's where Prince found his FUNK

THE STORY OF BLACK POPULAR MUSIC

Starting 7 May, 8.25pm, BBC2, this series tells the story of how Soul music was forged from r 'n' b and gospel to become the most successful music in the world...

Especially "Episode 5 - Ain't It Funky Now", transmitted at June 4th, should make clear that Prince ain't a funk-pioneer, but a great follower!

Who claims that Prince is a "funk pioneer"?? Prince is heralded because he transcended "the funk" and made it something new and purple an brought it straight from MPLS. He is heralded not as "funk pioneer" but as the great innovator genre blender of the last 25 years or so.
"New Power slide...."

ask george, ask james or bootsy, they would tell you that prince made his own unique contribution to the funk. theres a reason it was called the minneapolis sound as opposed to p-funk. prince is a pioneer in his own right as well as a loyal follower/funkateer.

I want to recommend everybody to watch this serie broadcasted by the BBC (every saterday) ... the first episode was great, with loads of information and great music (too bad they only play parts of the songs) ....

You'd better watch next week!

Desire, it covers our faces
It happens in curious places
Your body, it covers my tower
Ecstasy is ours
