What do you love and hate the most about Prince fans ???

I love Prince fans because most of them have a grasp of what real music is and they're funny as hell.

But then oftentimes I can't stand them because many of them aren't entirely objective about their idol's work, and they claim to hold contempt for MJ and are tired of the comparisons between him and Prince yet they can almost never resist mentioning him or at least making a reference to him in a thread. The fact that the mention/reference is usually cruel makes it all the more irritating.

Love:

The fact that they are Prince fans and got into him in the time period they did.





Don't Love (HATE is a STRONG word):


The fact that some act like complete IDIOTS and have NO IDEA what the hell they are talking about when it comes to Prince.

Prince fans are basically a small sample of the general public. As a whole we're not any more sophisticated, free-thinking, or even weird than fans of other acts. Prince appeals to a very wide range of people so I guess I'm saying there's no way to generalize us.

Everything isn't great, but when your a true artist like Prince that puts a new product out every year or so & takes chances (which is the key) You have to respect Prince for trying new things & it is his journey! He is the one driving the car, we are just following

I personally love everything he has done, because he is willing to take chances & not rest on a hit album. Prince could have milked Purple Rain and toured for years with it, but he didn't he quickly put out ATWIAD same with Musicology he could have milked that album with a whole 2 or 3 year tour around the world, but he doesn't. It's one experience.. time to move on.

But saying all this I resepect and love hearing other people's ideas & thoughts even though I might not agree.

Prince fans rarely quote posts and then show their mential illness/stalking true personalities if someone doesn't agree with their brain

I love that you all can share a lot of Prince stories that maybe you have not heard about. I hate that some fans are too obsessed...they tend to get offended very easy.

Like:
1: Most of Prince fans are much older than me, many also live in the US, if not in Minneapolis itself. This makes for some very cool stories here, and I love reading them.
2: Most Prince fans admit he has made mistakes, and even if nobody agrees on what were mistakes, I think just the fact that we don't worship him as a saint makes Prince fans seem like levelheaded, sensible smart people.
3: Snobbishness, These people listen to some really obscure artists and can tell me anything about anyone. I like that I don't need to see a lot of Britney/50 cent fans here.

Dislike:
1: Snobbishness. I thank the heavens my roommate is a Prince fan also, because I feel that if I say here that I like Arms Of Orion people would laugh me off my seat! They get highly irritated for small mistakes about facts too sometimes. Plus it's my personal pet peeve when everyone's raving about the 12'' version of any song, because I have no way of getting those since I have trouble finding even the regular Cd's in the stores here.

Love: They are more than willing to share he little know prince facts and info about side projects.

Hate: THey regard LoveSexy As the Gospel. Long for the glory days of Dirty mind, and hate seeing Prince change.

Hate: The hypocrisy. A lot (but not all) judge Prince and how he behaves on a different standard or in a different way than they do anybody else. A perfect example: (and one of my pet peeves) If any other male celebrity on the face of the earth is just a tiny bit femme, it's automatically assumed that he's gay or bi, but no matter how mind-numbingly girly Prince can be and often is, the saem fans will swear on their mother's graves that he could only possibly be straight.

I love that we Prince fans understand how cool he is, agree on how the music is like nothing eles, how we try to understand his message...I don't know I like knowing that there are people out there who understand the intese feelings I get when I listen to his music...it's nice to know that his music means as much to other people as it does to me.

What I absoultly hate is the fans that must agree or defend everything he says or does! Uggh I mean his music has brought joy and happieness to alot of us but he is not GOD! I don't say he is right on something when it is absoultly asinine! Also I hate it when fans try to paint him as a perfect human being like how he is not a cheater, egomaniac, eccentric.hypersensitive..I mean so what if he is those things! You can admit that and still think he is a beautiful person and it doesn't mean you appreciate him any less he is like that because reputations start somewhere...I mean if people who encountered him said this is what he is like maybe he is like that. He's Prince! If that is what his flaws are I fully embrase them along with his intellegence, sense of humor, musical gifts and all the other good things about him. I hate it when fans try to denouce his negative side as if he doesn't have one.

Hate: The fact that a lot of Prince fans are so into him that they think he can do absolutely no wrong. Some of them think every last song on every last album is absolutely great and never see any flaws. Some of them will even change their way of thinking to fit Prince's way of thinking. It reminds a little of crazy obsessed Michael Jackson fans. I never knew Prince had fans that obsessed until the internet.

LOATHE: how damn cocky the lot of them can be as if they were tight with Prince...they way they scoff @ u if u don't know a certain song or whatever...pisses me the hell off.

Love: the fact that they are fans of so many other kinds of music and are knowledgable about them.

Hate: They Think that Larry Graham is to blame for everything that they dont like about Prince, and because of this dilike try to even downplay his skills as a bassist.

I just hate 'em. Period.

Love: many are kind and generous even if they don't know you while you are meet them on the street.
They like to share with everything they owe (cd, etc.)
