What does Prince think of his earlier work now?

I wonder what Prince thinks now of Emancipation, Batman, Chaos and Disorder, Come, and The Symbol Album.....

Probably depends on the number of the day (even/odd), the moon (full or not), the weather (sunshine/rain), sexual activity and other factors...

On the ONA tour, he said "this is not the Purple Rain show, this is 2002". Well, what did he do in early 2004 at the Grammys? Play "N.E.W.S."??? whistling

I think he'd defend all his work to the death.
It's all perfect and complete in his eyes.

.

All of those previosu albums essentially were about Vaginas.

His current work is about vaginal contracts - He's matured and moved on. Probably doesn't care much for the older stuff now.

Actually I think he's probably still fond of it all, personally i still cant think of anything he did post 1995 that matches his work from 1979 to 1988 - Diamonds and Pearl and Gold came close in the 90s-

I wonder what Prince in the eighties would think about his 1989-2005 output. And I don´t mean it in a negative way, because I like his music from the nineties ´till today very much but I often wondered how the Prince from wayback would react if somehow he had the chance to hear his new millenium output or stuff like The Gold Experience or The Rainbow Children .

I believe he said once that he doesn't listen to his old music and just creates new music. I bet he appreciates every song he did but regrets some of them at the same time.

He used to say stuff like this all the way up to the mid-90s, but for instance when he released Rave he talked about how much he had listened to SOTT during the making of it. It's obvious that he listens to his old records at least occasionally.

The way he feels about "Emancipation" is a total mystery to me though. He used to say still years after releasing it that it was his favourite album. But given that he divorced Mayte and how he has changed I doubt he'd feel the same way anymore. Bet his own favourite must be TRC or SOTT these days. Maybe Graffiti Bridge.

Just joking about that Graffiti Bridge. But you never know.
