I was checking out Prince's earlier CD covers, you know like, For You, Prince, Controversy and even 1999, his skin is darker then than it is now.

Does he and Michael Jackson go to the same doctor to lighten their skin tone?

I heard that his covered himself with makeup on "Prince" so that he'd be more accepted by the black market. And he looks much darker in all the b&w picks.

Blame it on lights,make up and a vegan lifestyle.Each of these things play a factor.

I noticed that 2 and i think that prince doesn't really want 2 who he was born to be. I thhink it comes down to his fixations i.e. race especially his women. They all have been pretty much the same skin tone.

When I saw him in concert last year I remember taking notice of his skin and saying to myself "I didnt know his skin tone was so fair" Since I was standing right beside him I got a up close and personal eyefull.

So I would have to agree with you he does look darker on some of his covers that what he looks like in real person. Either way he is still handsome.

I never once thought about Prince's race or his skintone before I came to the Org because I didn't think it was important -to me personally or to how I enjoyed his music. But every other time I log on here, seems like someone's asking about his ethnic background, questioning his skintone, or wondering if he was more "black" in X era as opposed to Y era.

Apparently it's important.

you can photograph just about anyone to look as though they have all kinds of different skin tones - it's all about lighting, retouching, photoshopping, whatevs. i have pictures of me where i look olive skinned, just because the lighting was weird. i have other pictures where i look white as a ghost (more accurate).

i don't know about other people who have seen prince in person, but i got to see the guy close up several times last year, and he doesn't look any different to me than he ever has. i don't know what the big fixation's all about.

hmmm, my skin can go from pale to dark just depending on if I get sun or no sun. If I stay out of the sun completely for months, I'll turn lighter. Prince got a lot of sun before they shot the alphabet st video.... I think.... he ooks darker in that video, then he looks totally pale in the I wish u heaven video... odd...

I've seen pictures of Prince when he was younger like on his high school basketball team and he does look darker. But back then he wasn't a huge rock star wearing lots of make-up and head full of curly hair.

Prince's skin tone has always been the same, he may have artificially lightened it for pictures, videos, or movies but I bet you with all the make-up off he looks pretty much how did on the For You album cover.
