Copenhagen/Jean Pierre groove Anyone know why the "Copenhagen" instrumental from the ONA soundcheck is sometimes called "Jean-Pierre"? I've seen it titled that way on a few unofficial recordings, Continental Drift just to name one. Who or what does Jean Pierre refer to? A little history lesson:
Jean Pierre is a song Miles Davis recorded and played live in the 80-ies. Probably a Marcus Miller composition. In the Copenhagen concert, Prince played this tune in medley form with the song now known as Copenhagen and this is how it was initially released. For copyright reasons, this medley was edited, so that only the Copenhagen-part remained. jazzz. |
