The self titled album was absolutely phenomenal. A lot of people "borrowed" from this sound--
The whole thing was pretty damn goo' fr. start to fin.

Also, do you think that ugly people are God's cruel joke on humanity (like the platypus and the heterosexual) or another form of population control?

Sound-wise, this is the first of 2 of my favorite sounding Prince albums. The other being Controversy. The way it was mixed was transparent but yet still warm and powerful. You could hear each instrument and voice clearly. It also is the most tightly produced album to me. Sometimes when you have access to a lot of instruments and production tools, it's easy to try and use everything at your disposal but, this had the right amount of everything. Vocal-wise, this album can't be touched!

In an interview he mentions how much he labored on the 'For you' album. Trying to make the perfect album. 'Prince', feels like he's relaxing and the songs get to benefit from this. A little better use of funk and sincerity.

It was my first Prince album and it still doesn't dissapoint.
