yes! yes! YES! this is a beat that stayed in my head for a long time. would find myself grooving to it at the oddest times. same thing happened to a lesser extent with Housequake and LCD, but to this day, whenever i'm hand-drumming a beat it always seems to be the opening to New Position.

For me, his best beats come along when he is sort of staying with a pattern, but adding his own creativity into it. Of course, anytime he squats on a groove, it gets funkier as it goes along. Here are some of my favorites:

If I chose one song right now, it would be All Day, All Night, you'd have to hear it to know how damn funky it is. I'd also choose YES which was probably meant to be a Madhouse song, it's instrumental with some tough ass break downs where the chorus would be, like living with Eric Leeds & Atlanta Bliss in your pocket.
This very day and forever I will never fal out of love with the breakdown that ends Mountains, forty seconds of true heaven! :nods: Jeux Sans Frontiers

i´m not sure if prince did the beat, but it sounds definitively like P: The Dance Electric
other great beats: "Annie Christian"- prototype of drum´nbass grooves (?) "Hot Thing"- hypnotic beat, "Sign O The Times"- funky clock "Forever In My Life"- its simple but can be looped forever! [Edited 5/7/05 4:36am]
