Do certain songs remind you of Prince songs?

I'm not talking about people blatantly trying to bite P's music and style, I mean do certain songs have music or lyrics simular to what P has used? For example, the horns in Christmas in Hollis by Run DMC remind me of Head as well as the "La,Da,Da,Da..." part of Dead On It has a melody simular to the chorus of Kurtis Blow's If I Ruled the World.

"If I Ruled The World" came out in 1985. A few years prior to "Dead On It".

Yeah, I know. I didn't mean to imply that one was copying the other. Only that they remind me of one another.

Co-sign!

Ben Harper: "Bring On The Funk" - More than a passing nod to "Sexual Suicide"
D'angelo: "Africa" - Got "I Wonder U" writtern all over it", he even pays homage to the man in his lyrics - "From Kings & Queens there comes a Prince" smile
Numerous Terence Trent D'arby tracks in particular "Roly Poly" and a majority of the "Vibrator" album.
Pharrell Williams - "Frontin'"
Andreas Vollenweider: "Pearls & Tears"

Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

Some others ones,

- Daft Punk - One More Time (singer Romanthy is ripping off Princes vocals right away, when i first heard this song I really thought they had Prince on guest vocals)
- Worldparty - Private Revolution (whats in a name wink and sound of course)
- Los Lobos - Round and Round (really, you wont believe it, but it does remind me of those kind of Princes rock-epics)
