Can Anyone Post Their Personal Lovesexy Concert Review? I wasn't there because I was just 5 years old. I 've heard all these good things about the tour and I am not sure whether I should buy The Lovesexy Live Videos (both parts 1 and 2). I've saw all of the pictures, but those haven't even excited me much. So, if you went to one of the Lovesexy concerts, post a review on what you thought of it. Did it change your life like the album probably did? Check me out and add me on:

I never went to any of the Nude Tour shows, but I was affected by the album
when it came out. It filled my summer with much joy. I don't have the DVD yet, just a VHS copy of the Germany show and I would say that it is a must have for fans. There are many priceless moments in that concert (although some of his outfits are kooky.) Get it, for sure.

my memory is not good enough for a detailed review, but I LOVED LOVED LOVED the Lovesexy tour. It took my appreciation of Prince to a new level -- it was my first spiritual experience. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

However, as with the album, it didn't change my life. As far as the concert was concerned, I enjoyed the 1986 performance much more. . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

The Lovesexy show changed my life forever no doubt. I was 16 years old at the time and it really changed my relationship with God, okay here's my review.
My friends and I get to the show and right away head over to the merchandise booth. I remember being shocked at all the make-up he had on in that police hat picture. So I figured out what I would be buying and then headed off to our seats. Our ticket said Section CCC Row 1 which we were told was the section BEHIND another section so we were about 20 rows back. So we get to CCC and the lady says follow me. So she walks us up to the VERY FRONT ROW, the lady where I bought my tickets didn't realize it was in the round. So my friends and I began to freak out because we were right in front between his microphone and the basketball hoop. I remember looking around and couldn't believe all the empty seats. The show was at McNichol's Arena in Denver and the place held about 18,000 and there was about 8,000 there for the show. Keep in mind, just two years earlier Prince and the Revolution played a Hit and Run show there to a PACKED house, it was the hottest ticket in town. So it was weird to see all the empty seats but once the lights went out it made no difference. So right before the lights went out the stage started filling up with steam and the crowd started cheering and getting excited. The lights went out and the place went mad. The T-Bird went right over our heads and took it's place center stage, I think my heart stopped for a few minutes when Prince emerged from the car. I had never been that close to him at that point and didn't realize that pictures do that man no justice. So as Erotic City is going, here comes Sheila E out to her little percussion set right by the basketball hoop, she's RIGHT in front of us and I start yelling to her and she smiled real big and WINKED at me. I almost passed out. The show kept to the usual setlist for the U.S. leg and they jammed a lot more than on the European tour. Okay, now to the life changing part. I grew up in a very Catholic family so I was taught more to FEAR God than anything. As Prince (well,Camille) was lowered down centerstage and all the red lights gave the stage a Hell vibe I remember being so entranced like you would be at a scary movie or something. As the opening chords to Anna Stesia were played I had chills that caused tears in my eyes that I just couldn't fight. I stood there in awe listening to how emotional Prince was singing all they lyrics. As the steam filled the stage and as Prince was lifted centerstage higher and higher, my chest was heaving and almost could feel my old way of worshiping God leaving me. Being in the front row, the steam was all around me and it was like being on a cloud with Prince as he sang the song. He talked a lot after the song in the dark about how God was inside of me and how it was okay to LOVE God. My friends had no idea that my life had changed in those few minutes when the lights came up for the intermission. We just talked and waited for the second half of the show. The second half was the usual setlist as well but he did do International Lover during the piano portion as well as Do Me Baby for the second time that night. Prince was on fire that night, we've all seen shows where he just didn't give the show you knew he could, but this night he performed like it was going to be his last show ever. And the crowd may have been small, but they were the hard core Prince fans who knew every song and Prince ate up the energy coming at him that night. I was lucky enough to get a pic from Miko and a stick from Sheila that she dropped to me going over my head on the T-Bird during Alphabet St., and even a smile from Prince during Housequake. Now keep in mind people, this was BEFORE the days of going home and finding pics of the show on the internet from the show or knowing a bootleg will pop up soon. When you went to these early shows you watched them with the mind set that you would NEVER see this show again and it made it all that more special. Prince would not return to Denver again for 9 years for the Jam of the Year tour, but THANK YOU GOD I was able to travel and see him about 5 times for tours in between. But Lovesexy TRULY was more than just a concert, if you opened yourself up to it, it truly could change your life as it did mine. I was afraid to love God before that show, afterwords if someone asked me if I loved God I simply could just say

I don't have the DVD yet, just a VHS copy of the Germany show and I would say that it is a must have for fans. There are many priceless moments in that concert (although some of his outfits are kooky.) Get it, for sure. Just to avoid confusion, the Nude Tour shows (as well as being million miles away from the Lovesexy '88 tour) were two years after Lovesexy, and were on the back of the Batman album. Funnily enough I watched the video last night and enjoyed it as much as I always do. It's been too long to give details but it was the most intese live experience I've had. The set and format of the show were very ambitious, the lighting was stunning, the band were out of this world, the audience was the loudest I've ever heard. Everyone was on their feet and screaming or singing for the entire two hours. The sound was really really loud and Prince's voice was so strong then - he bellowed, and screamed his way through 30 odd songs. When U Were Mine was better than ever. Anne Stesia and The Cross were incredibly uplifting, even for an atheist like myself. The Purple Rain medley was enormous fun, and contained my favourite ever version of When Doves Cry. He arrived in, and left on the roof of a white T-Bird which circled the stage in the round. He shot hoops, Cat swung on a swing. He played Sister!!! Blues in C blew me away and Mavis Staples guested singing Heaven I'll Take You There with Prince, Cat, Bonnie and Sheila on backing vocals. And yes there was a half hour break, but the reason was obvious and it was like getting two gigs for the price of one. 'Hold onto your soul y'all, we gotta long way to go' he cried as he left the stage. No matter how long I gotta go, I doubt I'll witness a gig like that again. I remember a few moments vivdly: One being at the end of 1999, just before the final encore,Alphabet St. There was a blinding white light and the roaring of an explosion, and I'd never felt so posessed by an experience, as if it were going through me and coming out of me simultaneously. Another was as Prince, Cat and Sheila were exiting atop the T-Bird, P was looking down at me and for some reason I was making a cross with two fingers, and he looked into my eyes, smiled and did the same back. By the end I was both physically and emotionally drained. I'm still an atheist, but the love and joy he'd found through his chosen philosphy at the time was a wonder to feel and witness, and if I was in the Doctor's tardis, I know where I'd go back too. Until time-travel is a reality though, I'd get the vidos if I were you. Apologies for the possibly oblique Doctor reference. [Edited 5/14/05 8:45am]

All i remember is the music being great and cat walking round with flowers rising when she raised her arms.
Maybe somebody remembers a person forgetting their camera when we got back on the coach at Birmingham NEC to go back to Manchester. And some bushy eyebrowed guy who wouldn't give make a copy of the Black album to some avid fan sat next to him (for a fee) on the way down to the NEC.

As far as the concert was concerned, I enjoyed the 1986 performance much more. . yeah , I tend to agree , on a performance level , Prince was at his peak on the Lovesexy show , its a joy to watch whats going on .Musically speaking though , the lovesexy tour was a bit patchy I think , some of the medleys were too haphazard , and if youre not a huge fan of the Lovesexy album then most of the songs from the album werent too spectacular when played live either .The tour is worth seeing though purely to witness how much FUN Prince and the band were having onstage with it all .
