The Original "Old Friends 4 Sale"

To my understanding, the only difference between the version "Old Friends 4 Sale" released on The Vault and the one from '85-'86 was the the latter had more personal lyrics. Yet, I downloaded a verion with the original lyrics that did not have the orchestra accompaniment.

Is there a version with the original lyrics and strings?

Also, the quality of the downloaded version that I have is God-awful. Does anybody recon this song will ever be officially released!?

The version without strings is much better - a daunting piece of music. Look for the "Charade" boot, the sound is quite ok on that one

the "original" version i have starts out with Prince saying "two, one, two, one (or he could be saying deux"...ends at 3:44 and then immediately proceeds on to an instrumental jam of varying speeds with Prince singing at the end something like " emotion ever blue....do you like all night"..or something like that...and ends at 18:35 minutes...
you look better on your facebook page than you do in person hmph!

The original is the best version. This is the real version and what the song was really about at the time. The new version is a rehash and does not make sense now.

The orginal version is so damn good. I'm blown away everytime I hear it. The lyrics are MUCH better in the orginal and you can honestly feel the pain and anguish.

Wow 18 minutes! The version I have that's different from The Vault's is one that is from "Dreams" and it starts "The sun sat in the west..." as opposed to "The sun sat in my heart.." But it's only about 3:30. Much better than the latter version. What is the 18 minute version on?

Finding these songs before they're released is a blessing and sometimes a curse. Even when the quality is lacking.
The original of this song hit me hard. You can really feel that he was hurt. Which renders the remixed version hopeless in comparison.

I have the same dilema with
We can Funk
Data bank
etc
