Prince most visionary, genious move Right now I am listening to Mia Bocca from Jill Jones, and that remembers me of one of the most genious desicions Prince made in his career: mixing electronice, bare beats with orchestral instruments.....
In my opinion, that is one one his best masterstrokes....trying out how orchestral arrangements could interact with hard, electronic beatss.....he tried this combination on his own record Parade, as well as on the album of Family and Jill Jones, sometimes leading to splendid efforts: The Family - Screams of Passion, Prince and the revolution - I wonder you, but his greatest effort in this direction to me is: Jill Jones - Mia Bocca, including the orchestral intro this is pure bliss, one of the defining moments in pophistory in my opinion.....taking popular music to a higher musical level, while remaining the catchieness and repitiveness common to this kind of music,,,,,

I agree...esp the beginning to lng version of Screams o Passion. Them strings Calre does oh boy. Novi Nobog gets props too for her sadness on Purple Rain.
The Family is timeless music. Only the drum machine dates the music. Its like 40's mixed with oh you know....

I think that Prince's most visionary, genius move was his decision to go into recording and performing music.
It's why we're all here and we can only thank him for that.
