Love Jazz.
Infact, last night I attended the Artist Quarter. and saw NACHITO HERRERA & PURO CUBANO. Was blown away, Nachito's hands were flyin, and he played the piano like bongos at times. He had a cow bell on the left of the piano, and was playin it with his left & his right - the keys. His band was tight as well. It was smokin. Latin Jazz is great! Way cool! One of my favorite CD's is called Latino Blue on the Blue Note label. It's incredible, I think you'd love it.

not a huge jazz fan, but let me just say that the first time i ever listened to "Bitches Brew" by Miles Davis, i nearly fell out of my chair!!!!
I love the "doo bop" album alot too, tho die hard jazz/miles fans would probably hang me by my nutsack for admitting such a thing... oh well... i like living on the edge.

Jazz fan here... my first college degree was a B.A. in music... I was a jazz studies major. Only later, after many disappointments in the music industry, did I go back and get my degree in neuroscience. SUPERJOINT RITUAL - http://www.superjointritual.com

Just started listening to it after watching some interesting documentaries (no not Ken Burns no disrespect) on Billie Holiday, Miles, John Coltrane, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, etc.
Somewhere in the mix there was a statement made that ALL music forms (rock, blues, R&B, etc.) are rooted in jazz, so I've been challenging myself lately to listen hard for the similarities. Jazz should NEVER go away. It's the perfect foundation for musicians, especially those in a rut, because of its improvisations and putting certain "accents on every day action" via instrumental notes in song. It's challenging ... PEACE [This message was edited Mon May 13 20:26:44 PDT 2002 by aspera773]

A raised hand here.
I wouldn't say I play jazz for living, but at least I play jazz when I'm supposed to make a living. Brilliant. I also just finished a tour around my workplace for visitors and told 'em that "this is the room where the music is recorded and mixed, but I mostly just use this place to play tetris on the computer". My boss just loves me for the ardent worker that I am.
