i have NO complaints.i love them all..especially COME ON,THE1, FREAKS ON THIS SIDE, and I LIKE FUNKY MUSIC...just one question, is it just my cd or did they ALL come with 49 tracks with 11-48 being 5secs of air?

I take it for what it is: a fun, free-wheeling, inbetweener Prince album. When it came out, I only knew about it like a week or two ahead of time. And with the 'New Power Generation' moniker, I wasn't expecting much cuz I wasn't too thrilled with either Goldnigga or Exodus. But then once I listened and realized it was all Prince vocals, I was pleasantly surprised. It's better than I thought it would be.

Do you think maybe he spent too much time with Chaka and Larry that he didn't put enough effort into NPS? And it being not that great, he gave so much credit to the NPG, and left his name off it. But I like it more than I like DP.

At least there's 40 minuters of good stuff and 20 minutes of bad "outtakes"

I guess it comes down to what you're in to. Prince fans are the most fickle and eclectic around when it comes to matters of taste, to the point that I actually stopped trying to debate the merits of different songs. A LOT of folks around here share the same appreciation for our favorite musicician, but are polar opposites when it comes down to what we like. Chalk it up to the man's diversity. There's something for everyone and something to turn everyone off.

Honestly, I can't think of a parallel for this type of relationship between a musician and his supporters.

My biggest problems with the album was Until U're in My Arms Again and I Like Funky Music. Other than that it's really neat. Just saw the vid for The One on Housequake. Still looking for the Come On vid.

His arrogant vocals, the jazzy piano, the horns... perfection!

It includes some really good songs: "Come On", "Wasted Kisses", "The One" and "When U Love Somebody"!

There are only 3-4 songs on the cd that I like. The rest are below average IMO.

Freaks on this side could have been a pretty good song, but this permanent screaming is really annoying. (In 1988 Prince started here and there his little annoying gimmicks: no tracking, operator between the Goldexp songs, the comic voice in Rainbowchild, "hidden" tracks, schoolmasterly messages, etc. .At the latest after the second time not very funny or helpful.)
