SoTT is a straightforward concert movie.
No plot or acting to speak of, so that's probably what makes it the best Prince movie IMO. Great live versions of songs from the SoTT album. Definitely worth checking out. I remember hooking up my stereo to the video recorder and making a tape of this to listen to in my walkman.

Sign O' The Times opens with Cat arguing with her boyfriend (or pimp?) and running off. Prince runs after her. Then it's just concert video, apart from the odd bit - like Prince falls asleep in the dressing room and has a dream, that is the U Got The Look video, and a bit where Cat is writing in her journal.
Under the Cherry Moon is about Prince and Jerome Benton (Morris's sidekick from PR) who are gigalos on the French Riviera (ie they sleep with older rich women for money). Prince plots to seduce Kristin Scott-Thomas because she is due to inherit a fortune from her evil business-magnate father, but he falls in love with her. Her father doesn't want his daughter associating with this low-life, and tries to keep them apart. Eventually Prince and Kristin run off together, but at the end, her father's men shoot and kill Prince. Oh, and it's all in black & white, trying to suggest romantic movies of the 1920s. Grafitti Bridge is a sort of sequel to PR. Prince has part ownership of a club with Morris Day. He performs his own music there, but the club is not doing so well. Morris wants to take over the club; in fact he has his own club that does very well playing bland commercial music, and wants to take over every club on the Seven Corners area. An angel (Aurora) comes down to try and bring these warring factions together; both Prince & Morris fancy her. Prince is being lured into performing more evil commercial music to fight Morris, then the Aurora sacrifices herself by allowing herself to be run over. After this, Prince sings a spritual song that seems to sort out the differences between him and Morris. This films lacks the gritty realism of PR, and is set mostly on obvious, almost cartoony, sets. Every other film you might come across are concert videos I think...
