You can never go back, it just wouldn't be the same.

His music is maturing, in the same way that he is.

Life does that to you. smile

The top 10 things Prince is missing nowadays (in my own words, and in no particular order):
1) The cloud guitar
2) Wendy and Lisa
3) A free spirit (all praise to the JW for that wink )
4) His "John Lennon"-glasses
5) Clare Fischer
6) His own hair biggrin
7) Michael Bland and Sonny Thompson
8) Red meat (for a stronger libido)
9) Eric Leeds and Atlanta Bliss
10) Genious music

Thats it....easy

Hey, i am spiritual person, having been to big depths and highs in my life, and theres one thing I have learned....being to much obsessed with something: wether its booze, drugs or religion is a bad thing....

JW is a sectarian kind of christianity, that lets you live by 'rules', and at the same time limits your inner choices... You arent spiritual from following rules, real spirituality gives you a sense of freedom, purpose, innerpeace, while most religions decrease your sense of spirituality.....JW is a downright sect, built on hyprocicy and rules, abusing the spirituality every ones carries inside....

Why do I suddenly like you so much?

Well I don't know much about the JW faith but I don't like who it has turned Prince into...he doesn't even seem like the same man to me sometimes...but I guess he went through some terrible life expereinces and the JW faith in him mind was the only thing to ground him?? I mean that man was pretty famous, could have anything he wanted, that kinda distorts your reality a bit...he DOES seem more humble now...but like you said I don't belive he is as free as he should be..just listen to the Rainbow Children lyrics.... omg

I agree Krystal, i hope he will get his feet back on the ground, and express a maturity not based on 'rules' brought to him by Jehovah Witneses, but based on his own feelings and soul....

Haven't I answered this question for you already! No matter how you phrase it, the answer is gonna be the same. He's matured, damn! I hope someday you do as well. No one can live their whole life consumed by sex, sooner or later it becomes redundant. Stop worrying about Prince's overt sexuality and get out there and enjoy your own while you can.

Thank You. Agreed 100%. If Prince was still being overtly sexual, you would say isn't he gettin' too old for this shit and I'll say this again I don't care much for the JW denomonation, but if that and him being less sexual keeps him out of trouble and not in the same mess as MJ then I'm all for it. I don't want to see him in no mess like that.

I loved him the he was and the way he is now and it don't matter what he does somebody on the org is always gonna have something to say. You can't win for losing.

PEOPLE! Get a grip. Prince isn't that much different than he used to be. I've seen him in concert for the last 25 years more than 20 times and he's not drastically different.

Ok I understand but Prince always had a diffrent way of expressing himself. I mean if he loosened up a little it's not like we would want him doing all the other crappy things artists are doing now....like booty videos, talking about bending a girl over and ramming her, or simulating felatio with female dancers even!....we are just saying that he could sing about sex, insinuate sex, have sexy women in his videos again, have an occational swear word...I mean I think THAT would show a more maturity if he expresses himself in his own way and stifle himself because of a religion...I mean we always applaude him for saying f u to societies rules and challening the ideas of race, sexuality, gender he always seemed like a person who did his own thing...now he is a follower in a diffrent society. shrug

Thank you, but this is merely your opinion based on falsehoods.
I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and I can tell you that inner peace does not come from putting down other people. I certainly don't need someone on a message board to tell me whether I'm spiritually free or not.
I'm free from a lot of the crap that many "spiritually minded" people put themselves through because of the way they choose to live their lives.
Perhaps you think Prince is obsessed with his faith because he actually practices it, as opposed to paying it lip service. Either way, you don't know him and you don't know JWs based on your post.

If you want to know anything at all about JWs just go here: www.watchtower.org

OdysyMiles,

I have listened to The Rainbow Children a few times and i did hear a lot of harsh, shortminded, grieving lyrics on that. If that is what JW are about, i dont see much spiritual freedom in your believes....

I see you did put the link to watchtower.org in your post. I might visit it sometimes...

As were on propoganda-mission wink maybe you should once try to read the following book:

Thich Nhat Hanh - Every step is peace

An insightfull and clearly written book about spirituality, from a budhist point of view. I aint no budhist, but it inspired me a lot.

Remember, youre free to choose, so its all your choice wink

Seriously as much as I loved Musicology I really liked the fact that his music catered to a more adult audiance. I felt like when he catered to us he really kept it exciting and passionate...I mean people all are obsessed with sex..sex sells and it's interesting and everyone loves it...I mean if we didn't that would pretty much be the end of the human race. So I miss the hardcore lyrics, sexy women in videos, Prince's sugesstive dancing...I think sex/sexuality is facinating and I thought Prince was one of the most intriging artists because he felt the same way...not only is he a wonderful musician with great songs but he expressed sexuality unlike no one I'd ever seen before...does anyone eles understand what I am talking about? biggrin

Sometimes I miss it,but then I wonder if he's not happy the way he is now and then I feel selfish.

To a lesser degree - yes. I was wathcing "The Ride", Las Vegas. I did not like the new lyrics - "I like to watch - television". I don't like when he tries to clean up old songs. They had an edge I liked.

oh let him change the lyrics... So what if its not the same.. He's getting older now and changing. Thats what I love about this guy. Do Your Thing Prince!!

Whatever---a year ago this board was ripe with Musicolgy/tour fever. Now we get threads like: "If Prince cut off his arm and gave it to a fan, would you want him do coke with Michael Jackson if it made him more sexual. Why isn't it 1985 anymore boo hoo hoo..."

Musicology is a weak ass album. Uninspired and full of rehash and crappy production. The tour was great but the tour don't live in my CD player. When Prince starts livin up to decent standards, nobody will wonder why Prince won't let his fans do coke off Michael Jacksons sexaul arm nod

Musicology was a commercial record that sold a million copies at retail P has not sold a million copies of anything in a decade. In order to do the give away he had to do something commercial. I can't figure out why people on this board can't figure this out.

WORD!

I happen to like Musicology, and jammed it a few times. Musicology as my wake up song to drive to work and Marrying Kind (to work the stress out while driving home) or Mr. Man as my drive home song (my decompression while driving home song).

- I like Musicology too. Of course, if you compare it to his masterpiece albums such as SOTT and Parade, it´s disappointing.

But I like the fact that it´s a clean and straight album focused on a more mature audience (the opposite of Rave, for example, that was commercial in the wrong way - outdated production trying to aim at teens). I still listen to it, and I really love some tracks.
