"Wet Your Lips" by Terence Trent D'arby is the closest another artist has come to replicating Prince.

It's a shameless attempt.

And I love it!

I can imagine it on "Sign O The Times".

Oh Sheila by 'Something the World' I forget the name of the group right now. But it was a bunch of cats with real greasy Geri curls. lol When it came out in the 80s, everyone thought it was a Prince song.

This song always screamed out at me as a effort at sounding like Prince:

Not sure about that song being particularly P-ish, but I've always thought TTD was right in line with Prince. I love his music and it's sad that he's no longer considered worthy by the music industry. He's more talented than any of his contemporaries or those who came after. An exciting and original singer, composer, and performer. When he was being derivative, it was derivative of the stuff I love (Stevie, JB, etc.).
It seems that his name change (Sanandra?) hasn't helped his exposure.

Do Anything by Natural Selection (featuring Ingrid Chavez) was a conscientios attempt at replicating Camille and D'Angelo's Untitled/How Does It Feel? was a tribute to old school slow jams of Prince.

Yeah, I downloaded it once years ago and thought it was a really shitty Prince song. I was relieved to find out it wasn't.

At a company christmas party about 10 years ago, the DJ played "Oh Sheila" and the person who can name the artist gets a prize (I forgot what the prize was... probably some kinda alcohol). Everybody else said Prince... so I won

TTD was a great artist, when his first album came out
the press called him a mix between Prince & M>Jackson.
I think he was more Prince but also much more than that.
2 bad record compagnies always seem 2 drop their true
artists,it will always be this way.
Backstreet Boys then,Britney now..they bring in the money!

I know , but the 'vibe' , the beat and the minimal instrumentation
sound like Prince
Not talking about her 'singing' smile shake
