Purple Rain for one, but I really have a hard time believing he'll never do it again. Maybe "retiring" just means "don't do for a while." But it was billed as the last time he'd perform all those old songs, who knows.

Well, he also said it was the 2004ever tour, implying it was just going to go on and on, so gave himself a bit of an out there, he can claim every tour is an extension of that one!
He has so many hits, there's plenty he hasn't played in years anyway. But I think when he's in the mood to play a certain song, an old promise isn't going to stop him. He said he wasn't going to play Purple Rain on the ONA tour but he did in the end. He's also said he'd never tour again, that was back in the mid 90s!

As far as we know, it's currently as has been described by 8up and metalorange.
The tour was billed as 'last time the hits will be played', but every time he was asked about this in public, he clearly stated that he was only proposing to give some of the hits a rest for a while to make room for other music. The one hit he said he would miss the most from live performance would be 'Purple Rain' but that doesn't mean he will never play it again. On some occasions on the ONA tour he even suggested he wouldn't be playing 'Purple Rain' that very evening, but apparently changed his mind during the show!! The only song he appears to have retired is '1999' following the recording of the New Year's Eve show at Paisley Park back in 1999. Who knows what will happen? For the present, I'd simply treat it as a promotional line he used to bill the tour, and see what happens. . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
