I've always loved this song. I think it kicks ass. I have to listen to it cranked up as loud as I can get it (without murdering my neighbours).

Did ya'll know that it was originally written for a "The Simpsons" episode ? It was written for Bart to sing. It was called "My name is Bart" Something happened and the producers changed their minds and Prince, took it back and retitled it. It's a great song to hit the heavy bag with, run up a hill, clear a pool table, just an uptempo, FUNKY, in-your-face song. That and I'm Gonna Knock You Out are just the epitome of Look Out World, I'm Coming type of songs. Loved it then, love it now. Some people tell me I've got great legs...

I really enjoy this track - its funny, pompeous, over the top
The main reason i think why some people dont seem to 'get' this song, becuase its full of humor.....its a Prince selfparody, playing with his image of dangerous sexfreak in a way Funkartist and hip-hoppers were doing for years and years allready....the selfrenterial kind of thing (JB's "I am superbad", the way of rapartist saying "I am the greatest") In my opinion Prince is using this style of lyrics to get rid off the image that had been evolved during the WB-era, one of a funky, sexminded freak (to the main audience that is, i hope real Prince fans notice the musical subtleties and humor Prince used during the WB-era). So, for me this is a piss-off to WB, Prince saying: see, this is how you want to market me, lets fool around with image. I mean, in this context (and also considering the over-the-top sound of this song) i just get amused by lines as: - But on the seventh day, he made me - Till i get your daughter, i wont leave this town I also dig the chaotic, energetic video that accompanies this song, it only ads up to that "Fuck You / humorous"-feeling

And thanks to the valiant efforts of Tony M, it remains funky fresh to this very day. [Edited 4/24/05 15:18pm] ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~
