Prince rogers nelson (b1958) was named afrter his italian-fillipino piano-player father John Nelson. "prince" was his fathers stage name. From the first time Prince saw his father on stage when he was five, he wanted that life too. His father didnt help though. He could not stand the noise the boy made on the paino so he didnt let him anhywhere near it . Hew left the piano & the boy behind when the couple seperated . Prince taught himself to play copying theme songs of TV shows . Prince also developed an interest in his mother substantion pornography collection and spent timwe in her cubord trying on her underwear


He was in trouble at school. The other kids teased him about his height. Unhappy, lonely, more & more he turned to music for solace untill graduating from high schjool at 17 he layed in a sucession of bands. In 1976 Prince group champagne was so popular locally they decided it was time to make a record . The group broke up. But in the process prince had been given the run of a studio and was introduced to a local buisnessman who belived in prince talent and offered to manager him as a solo artist

Prince wanted complete controll of his own career. Encouraged by the time he spent in the studio, he insisted on producing himself. Before WB agreded to sign him trhey sent their top producers to watch & see if prince could do it. the first album 'for you' was released in april 1978 with prince producing & playing ever instrument . he was 19.
