PRINCE brought UNVELIEVABLE energy to his early performances!!!!!!

I was at housewquake watching old live videos and it struck me how INSANELY energetic and just pulsing with amazing vitality PRINCE'S early live shows were.

Go check out the DIRTY MIND performance from the 1999 tour with Jill Jones at the beginning to see what I'm talking about.

I SO wish I could go back in the WAY BACK machine to 1980-1983 to see some of these shows.

NO ONE could top PRINCE from this period..... NO ONE in music history.....

This was the cream of his live act.... His recording/song-writing peak didn't hit until 1986-1988.....

The guy has incredible energy and stunning charisma.
I wish I had been around to see the guy at that time.
Maybe I was rockin' in the womb biggrin

You know, I have to agree with you. I saw my friend's copy of the Controversy concert in D.C. in 1981 and man, everything about that concert was electric. I wish I was much older when he did those concerts.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

What's funny is that people only who saw him recently (musicology tour) were blown away by his energy. I agree that the man is still a dynamo, but I concur that back in the day he was unmatched in his constant energy.

Yeah, I've noticed that as well. The people who haven't seen many of his live performances before Musicology or have only started to see him with his Hit N Run shows in 1997 are the ones completely entranced by his energy level these days. 'Tis NOTHIN' compared to back in the day. Sigh...oh how I wish for the return of his youth (and mine, too)! smile

I know exactly how you feel. I was only youngster during those days. I wish I could go back and be about 20ish to really experience these shows.

I'm not so much wishin' for the past. The Musicology Tour was my favorite Prince tour ever. Is it the best??? Probably not. But, how do you judge or categorize "the best". What ever you dig is whatever you dig. Some people liked the over the top spectacle of "lovesexy" some liked the stripped down and intimate "One Nite Alone." I liked "Musicology" (the tour) because it was "One Nite Alone" on steroids and fruit loops.
