What is "Diamonds & Pearls" really about? Over the years my idea of what the song about has changed. At first, I usta think it was about children because of the chorus. Then I thought it was about a couple having constantly arguing and fighting. Now I think its like an anti-war song or something. personally, i think it's just a pretty little ditty with no deep meaning at all. but read into it what you will.
i remember a discussion a while back where somebody suggested that it was a message to the fans? apologies for not giving credit - i simply don't recall who it was that made that interesting suggestion. . [Edited 4/19/05 9:25am] | |

[Edited 4/19/05 9:25am] I started a thread about it being to the fans (though there's probably been more than one). That's the reason I felt he sang "boy or a girl." The whole album is so slick I thought the D & P were the songs themselves. After so many challenging (and great) albums, I thought P was saying "Is this what you want?" Actually, it wasn't what I wanted! I did learn to like it, though. Check this song out at:
