NMGMC MEMBERS WHO HAVEN'T BEEN TO A CONCERT THIS YEAR How satisfied with you membership with the NPGMC as of
today? I've been fortunate enough to see a couple shows so far.....What I want to know is how do the members who've paid thier money, to be in "the club" but, were unable to catch the One Night Alone tour feel about thier membership so far? Igothebuttafoyomuffin bgladthaturfree

So far, let down.
I was in Miami for the Florida and Atlanta shows, but I missed them. I thought "I'll see him when he comes to London". I hope he doesn't let me down, but I have a feeling... .

as with every contract (service or products) I engage in, I tend to wait until the end of that contract to complain and certainly do not jump into conclusions after a period of only one quarter of the contract.
When by the end of the year NPGMC has not shipped out minimum of 4 CD's (whatever length they are ) and/or Prince has not been in Europe for concerts I may find a reason to complain. But until the end of December I just wait and see... Concluding, so far I feel nothing and that doesn't make me feel bad or sad or whatever!

I dont want to repeat myself, but let me just be clear what I would have done given the job of running the club.
Firstly - This infamous vault..if it does exist - I would have put 3 new tracks up on the site for download each month as a TREAT - Thats 36 for the year. Not too many if there are 1000's of curiosities tucked away Secondly - All those who paid $100 I would have mailed them out a secret welcome pack - something silly, but worthwhile - like a 4 track EP available nowhere else - or maybe something amazing that was canned like the Roadhouse Garden - Or even just something cute and simple that Price could do in secret like a small 12 track acoustic album of old Prince classics Thirdly - I would have sent with this CD a few colourful fliers about the upcoming tour and the 4 CDs. Fourthly - A letter welcoming the member to the club and maybe including some kind of Newsletter about the tour and what Prince has planned for the year. Fifth and Final - MAKE DAMN SURE that there are NOT only 4 CDs for the year - Since the invitation TEASED us with "AT LEAST" 4, make damn sure they get 5 or 6. This isn't asking too much, and with a little planning it would have made enough Money to Justify itself. Thats what I would have done. Instead, so far for my $100 I have had an email thanking me for joining, several emails about concerts I canot see, and an email about an acoustic DEMO CD. Yum. My cup runneth over... Tony PS If Prince wants someone to run this, tell him to give me a call.

a NPGMC membership is really a big gamble. U'd probably have to live in MPLS to get value out of a membership.
To live in certain parts of the States would be ok too (Chitown, NYC, LA, etc, larger cities and larger fan bases), U're pretty sure he'd tour those places. For the rest of America though, He won't tour every state, so a membership might not be worth it depending where you live. Europe maybe ok 2 join. UK residents are pretty safe, but again it's all a gamble. ...and the rest of the world?? Like Australia - Forget it. Too expensive, and while everyone pays the same price and gets 4 CD's, some get better value like a tour, and to sit in a soundcheck, and to go to a Celebration. But a country like Australia misses out on all of that unfortunately. Solution. - for a country that misses out on a tour, Prince should film a concert, put it 2 DVD and send it to those members in those countries only that have missed out. Is this a question that needs to be asked???
I mean Helllllooooo!!! Those who have joined the club and have yet the opportunity to attend an ONA concert have gotten absolutely nothing for their $100.oo. Shouldn't take a rocket scientist to assume that NO! they are not satisfied with their memberships. The year is not yet over....in all fairness this is a question that needs to be posed to all members at the end of the year. Why don't ya just include all of us at this site and ask... "Do all y'all like to hand over a hundred dollars and get nothing in return???" J...you need to be fair and give the club the benefit of the doubt....if after doing just that.... you still feel that you have been slighted then ....send them an email and let them know how you feel with actual facts to back up your grievances. Upon their response if you feel as though they have avoided your questions, tried to double talk the issues, and have not addressed your dissatiisfaction..... well then post the email correspondence here at the org. After doing so ... you can get in line behind me as the next "banished" one... cause you will lose your right to have any further communication with "your" club. Life Sexy u all life Sexy u all

So why do you think that living in Minneapolis has a benefits as far as the club goes. He did not take the ONA tour to our city. Yes we get Paisley shows, but you do not need to be a member to attend them. The only advantage that we have is that we live close to Paisley Park for the Celebration. To be honest with you I don't look at that as a benefit. No offense to the out-of-towners but Paisley Park is not as fun when everyone comes in for the celebration. It is crowded and worst of all everyone thinks they deserve special treatment because they flew in from ... You end up spending a large amount of time waiting in line with a bunch of pushy tired people who think they are entitled to something. Not my idea of fun. Last year we didn't get any special value out of membership being as the concerts that he had at the exel there was a much larger pool of members buying early tickets which diminished our chances of getting outstanding seats. Remember the only Minneapolis show he played was during the celebration which meant that members from all over the world were vying with us for the good seats. They didn't have this problem in Milwaukee or wherever else he played. Just my two cents.

Well, dnaplaya was basically referring to the added travel expense to attend the Celebration.....if you live there , you don't have to get a hotel or rental car if you flew in or take taxi.....your kitchen is there with you, you don't have to eat out evey night.....I see your point about the crowd....I might just not go because of that reason alone. that's what i woud have meant by that statement had I said it anyway and Aannastesia check the "UNDER ATTACK FROM THE NPGMC" thread to see my correspondence with "the club"...and see all the love the other Orger's are showing me.....I think we might be in the same boat.....of course ou might be a little more "loved" here on the Org now Igotthabuttafoyomuffin bgladthaturfree

I suppose I'm the odd one out. I joined the club after attending a ONA show knowing the only benefits to which I'd be entitled is access to celebration tickets & the 4 CDs. I'm way too far from Minnesota to attend Xenophobia but as long as I get the 4 CDs, I'm happy.
*shrug I mean, I suppose if I'd stretched my budget to include the $100, I might feel cheated but that isn't the case. $25 per CD isn't to terribly bad seeing that you won't find them (or the majority of them?) in stores. But I agree, the web content exclusive to members is pretty slim. I have to admit, I laughed after downloading "Silicon" - that's one expensive mp3!

I guess we now need a thread titled "NPGMC Members who HAVE been to a concert this year....how satisfied are you?"...Wonder what direction THAT thread would take??...

So far I feel let down. I signed up for the NPGMC and later on that day tour dates were announced and no Boston date. It was really depressing. So far, there has been nothing great out of this year. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 6, 6...

..err, my point was that because I'd joined after the show (meaning no soundcheck, no ticket pre-sale, etc), I'm reaping the same benefits as the folks who've been members and didn't get to see a show.. and I'm not complaining. *nods

I'll chill and wait until the year is over before I decide to comment.
From the info given out at the beginning of the year I feel I'm due 4 CDs and a concert in the UK. If they donn't deliver these I'll be pissed, despite being aware of their fondness for 'get out' clauses.

How many times are the same people going to discuss this same issue? This was the "topic of the week" recently, so much so that Ben added an entire section dedicated to it.

What pissed me off is that the locals who had been to Paisley dozens of times were still being obnoxious about claiming their places at the front of the line. A group of locals were camped at the front of the line to get into Paisley every night. They would bring their camp chairs and park themselves in the front. The crowds, packed in like sardines in the L40A room, and every night standing around and waiting in line plus the lack of accomodations -- no chairs -- convinced me to not sign up for the next celebration.

Does it really matter that they were locals camped out at the front of the line? You could have easily brought your own lawn chair and got there earlier then they did. Because we are from Minneapolis does that mean that we are supposed to sit in the back of the room for the shows? We paid the same money you did. Maybe someone can address something about this subject that I honestly don't understand. I've been following Prince for a few years now, so I know that nothing is ever guaranteed with him (insert aborted performance, album, project, film, play, website, magazine etc.. here). Knowing this, I only joined after I confirmed that he was indeed performing in my city. Even then I understood that the show could very well be cancelled.
So, what I don't get is why someone would join the NPGMC with the expectation that Prince would come to their particular side of the globe, city, suburb, village, whatever.. I know that ONA was promoted as a "world tour", but this is Prince we are talking about, if you are reading prince.org then you should really know better than to listen to something that vague. IMO, you should expect 4 CD's, but if you are gambling that a Prince concert is gonna come to you, then you're just rolling the dice. And believe me I've been there and it sucks. Back in 93' I passed on seeing him in DC, figured I'd catch him when he made it to Texas. 4 years later he finally made it. live and learn.
