Do you think Prince is snubbing us?

Are you guys feeling like Prince is having so much fun in LA and doing the Hollywood thing that he is ignoring the fans that have been with him through thick and thin? ARRRRGGGGHHHH he's never gonna come back to Mpls and be a part of the Mpls music sceane again is he? Hello Hollywood Prince! mad I guess now is a good time to start to give up on the dream ever seeing him play live at PP and meeting him huh? I'm gonna have to find a new celebritiy to lust after. evillol

No! I think Prince is living his life. The only thing I want from him is a new album (Musicology suck big Rhinoceros dick) a dvd of the tour, and maybe a new tour.( but that might be asking a bit much)

I THINK that Prince's next album will comprise of material recorded at the 3121 parties. Again, let me reiterate this is only what I think. I am not saying it is.

I don't think he's snubbing us. I wish he would make an occasional Paisley appearance, but I'm not surprised he's staying away.

I think he really burnt out the majority of his MPLS fanbase through the years of spoling and torture we all were given at Paisley. He may draw a slightly bigger crowd here thanks to his success of last year, but in general, he can't get a good crowd to the Park without advertising it to the NPGMC as a whole.

I'm sure he knows this and is enjoying doing a different thing in a different place for now...

Thank you for underlining those "think"-words. Otherwise you would have probably started a flame war and received tons of viruses in the e-mail as a gesture of hatred.

We're not, nor ever were in a position to be snubbed by Prince.

We ain't his friends, we just buy his music and go to his concerts (and as far as I know, there was an album and a huge US tour just last year).

If we've not heard anything from Prince in five years, then I might start to think that he's lost interest in releasing stuff for the fans.

I have four theories:

1) Prince has a mutha of an album ready to go and he's just trying to lay the proper groundwork for its release later in the year.

OR

2) Prince has a few projects and is not sure what way he wants to go so he's kinda playing around with things.

OR

3) Prince is taking a rest from last year's whirlwind, doing enough to keep his name out there so he can come out with something new in 2006.

OR

4) Prince is trying to reunite the original NPG but Tony M won't return his phone calls.

Who knows with this nutty nut we call Prince.

No way is he snubbing us. Let the man do his own thing for a moment. If he wants to party, then it's his right. He deserves it after all of the craziness from last year. I really think something is building up for the future. I just hope it's another kickass album.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

nod I feel that you're on to something. Typically, I have found that alot cool stuff has come from jam sessions. Hence, P may be in that same frame of mine and vibing off that sponataneous energy. Of course, he is some what of an control freak so you know there gotta be some studio envolvement somewhere b/c our boy is some what of an perfectionist.

I have gotten the impression that Prince likes his fans but from a distance. He has no problem partying with stars but when he has held parties that fans can attend, he either does not show up or stays in the vip area and you never get to meet him.He has taken photos with other celebs but it is near impossible for a fan to get a pic with him.

He held a after party here last year and only important people could go and when he arrived and left he barely looked at his fans outside the club. And his security were pretty lousy to the fans.

lol I love how you underlined the words "think" in your post because people around here get so bent out of shape when people make a post that they don't agree with. They forget the entire site is made up of people's opinions and no one is "laying down the 10 commandments" here. lol

You know I heard about the afterparty last year after the Musicology show. I didn't go but some of my friends were thinking of going. But anyway I guess it seemed like around the Rave era lots of people seemed to see Prince just roaming around Paisley parties...but I guess with the sucess of Musicology that is just an impossiblity now. BTW I wonder what is considered an "important" person. wink

I think it's kind of gross that Prince is choosing to hold these celebrity drenched, shmoozefest parties with the Hollywood "elite", and to associate himself so much with the whole phoniness of that mileu (cuz I mean, come on..these parties are PR for Prince himself and for whatever future project he has up his sleeve and is planning to unleash, not just him hanging out with his "friends". Otherwise, why the need to post those fawny, namedropping, hype-causing 'reports' ABOUT the parties, if they really *were* just Prince and Mani having a private party with their pals? We (the fans/public) were never kept so abreast of Prince's private parties and social life BEFORE. These current LA parties are to drum up hype and re-introduce Prince into the scene again, for whatever reason) but that's just because I personally can't stand the phony, snobby, "celebrity" lifestyle and I myself wouldn't want to hang around that type of people.

But, if Prince does, like others said- it's his choice and I don't think he's doing it to "snub" anybody. Maybe he just really does like the LA mentality and lifestyle (which would be too bad but oh well)

That said, I do wish he'd throw us lowly peasants a crumb and maybe have a party or something out at Paisley once in awhile. lol

Thank you for your honesty about the way you feel, even if it is not the concensous! But as far as Prince liking LA and the mentality of LA I don't know...I mean he lived in Minneapolis for so long and attepted to have a quiet normal life here...it just seems werid he went all hollywood on us...what ever happened to "I will always live in Mpls. it's so cold it keeps the bad people out"? He always seems to change his mind though.
