What if Prince didn’t sing in Falsetto?

Would that be

Better?

Worst?

Interesting?

Some songs would be in a different key. Or not exist at all.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Worst of course, even if sometimes his falsetto bores me, I think it's the trademark of Prince style, when you think Prince, you think falsetto... wink

I mean some people don't like him because of his singing style!

Certain songs like Jam of the Year and Get Yo Groove on namely, sound better and more alive in his normal register.

I think if he sang LaLaLa Mean I Love U in his normal register, it would be 100 times sexier.

I never liked the falsetto much, only on a few songs. I like his real voice.
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

I think his falsetto voice suites him perfect... Nobody can't really do it as good as him. Except maybe D'Angelo. I think it's cool.

Listen to the original demo of Prince's kiss sang in a lazy bluesy style then thank god he knows when to use his falsetto to make a potentially average song sound really really great !
Check out Chocadelica , updated with Lotusflow3r and MPLSound album lyrics April 2nd 2009 :

....I probably would never have become a fan. My first moment of awe with Prince was Betcha By Golly Wow video, and his voice mesmerized me (and of course his eyes).
When I started to get into him I found out some radio favourites like LRC, LGC, Purple Rain, TMBGITW and Kiss were his. And I was like "Man, he sings with two different voices!" I hadn't known Kiss and Little Red Corvette were by the same person...

When he's in form it sounds great. Sometimes it's very ropey though. Check out Family Name on the Vegas DVD and you'll notice his falsetto sounds strained and crackly and he changes to his normal register.

Al Green has a great falsetto, though I read recently that he spent hours and hours piecing together the vocal tracks for some songs.

The falsetto was one of the things that hooked me to him. I liked it better when that's all he sang in.

I'll answer that with a better question:

If Prince's vocals were deep like Barry White, would it work?
