Prince needs more songs in his deep register - Like Peach.

I love when Prince sings with his super bass voice.

But while he does all these hyper-soprano Camille pieces, he only gives me "Peach" and "Erotic City."

That's sinful. Why has he scrimped on these?

I want a whole album of songs as deep-throated as Peach, which is awesome!

P.S. Am I missing any other songs sung in his deep voice??? can't think of more right now... and Erotic City is only partial... by the end he's using his regular voice.

SynthiaRose, you did forget onetracks where Prince did use his deep, low voice in a very nice way: Positivity, near the end of the song (dont kiss the beast, be superior at least) theres a effect being used on his voice, that makes your bassspeakers crackle wink

Question of U and Letitgo don't sound deep at all to me. No bass voice there, not like Peach at any rate.

And Positivity... yeah toward the end, but that hardly counts sad

See how hard it is? He really doesn't use his deep voice that much.

Yeah, I really think he should singer lower now he's an older guy...I mean obviously he should do what the fuck he wants, but I think he'd probably have a wider appeal if he dropped the falsetto, at least a bit...he has a GREAT sounding low register, when he really wants to....he's got ALBUMS-WORTH of falsetto, so I think he should sing in his normal voice now....that stuff about "it hurts to sing in my normal voice"....i don't buy it. i don't think he should BANISH the falsetto altogether....just reserve it as a special treat.

Hun Synthia, i dont want to nag, but Prince uses his deep voice during Positivity from start to end, I mean, i always thought, wow this is some new, cool type of voice he's using..... it could be, we have a definition of low and deep here, i dont know wink

"Is that a good man, why do you dog him..."

I concede, he does use his gravely voice here and throughout. I was trying to recall the voice from memory, but I just listened to it and you're right. wink

"Is that all your gold? Where did it come from? What did you have to do? Can you sleep at night? Do you dream straight up . Or do you dream in double you's." neutral

Great song with great lyrics! BTW...

Um, not to nitpick or anything, but the "Camille" voice is far from soprano. It's sped-up so it sounds higher than "normal," but it's not as high as his falsetto.

There's also:

Slow Love
Forever In My Life
Under The Cherry Moon
Do U Lie?
The Love We Make

Not all necessarily super-deep, but they're some examples of non-falsetto singing. He gets pretty deep on UTCM and Do U Lie?

Diamonds and Pearls (the album) also has some pretty cool deep singing:

Title Track
Thunder ("Love first came to me with the radio on...")
Cream
Gett Off
Daddy Pop (not one of my favorites, but he is using a deep voice: "See my brother talkin' plenty head...")

But funkmistress if you listen to Peach ... he sounds way deeper and harder on that than on thunder and cream. to me...

Gett Off and Daddy Pop ... Yes! good ones. Sorry, I don't hear it in the others.

Someone said There is Lonely ... that's a good one.

My ear is not musically trained though so perhaps I'm a bit tone deaf wink ... but I do know what i like and thats: "She was dark, she was tan. She made me , proud to be a man."

That's my standard for measurement. I can't get enough of that song. When I first heard it, it didn't even sound like Prince to me .. Billy idol maybe.... I was totally thrown when I heard Peach. I can't recover from it.

but I think I will put all these songs on a playlist so I can appease my thirst ... thanks evrybodee...!

A bit off topic, but when i first saw Prince interviewed life on TV (around 1985 - 1986, i think, a promotional MTV-talk for the release of Under the Cherry Moon), i was really surprised his talking voice was so LOW compared to the falsetto (and even his 'normal' singing voice).
