Looks pretty good. Very like the Hits albums where they mixed all the tracks around. I have a strange compulsion to put everything in chronological order.
My main problem with the Hits was that they left out some great singles like Girls and Boys (Uk no.11), Let's Work, Sexy Dancer, Paisley Park and all the Batman stuff and they could've left out some others like mabye I Feel For You which wasn't a single for Prince.
U seem to have included everything except for Scandalous (best track on the Batman album) and A Love Bizzare would be a nice addition too. I notice you only have the one B-side, presumely because it was a hit for that Keys girl.
Kudos for including Musicology and Love Sign which although they were only promo singles they really feel like classic pre album release Prince singles that the man used to do so well ala When Doves Cry, Alphabet St., Kiss, Sign o' the Times etc.

I know you can't fit in everything (like that dreadful Arms of Orion) but you also left out Anotherloverholeinyohead which is another goodie.

I left 'Love Bizarre' cuz 12:18 is too long and I haven't got the single edit... wink
The first compilation was 4CDs but I thought that would be too long for my friend, that's why I gotta left 'Anotherlover', 'The Arms Of Orion', 'New Power Generation', 'Sexy Dancer'...

Anyway, thax for your reply!!! biggrin

Yeah, I prefer my hits to be chronological too. That way you can see the progression in sound and musicianship.

Adore was never a 'hit' in that it was never released as a single. I don't think Lovesign ever got released either. Personally I don't mind you putting your favourites on there - but by your own criteria, it is a compilation of 'hits'!

My other thoughts would be that some songs are cd 'openers' and others are 'closers' - songs that you can't help associating with the start of a cd or the end of an album, or songs that jar you awake or that end with a feeling of closure.

You have Gold as an opener but I think it is a closer, especially the way it fades out. Purple Rain is also a closer - but you've put Musicology after it which I think is an opener, a wake-up call. Adore is a closer, especially in it's full version. Let's Go Crazy is a classic opener, you can't put it in the middle of a cd, you just can't!

I think Gold is great to open the compilation! Let's Go Crazy also works after I Wish U Heaven!!! And I like Musicology as an encore after Purple Rain! wink

That wasn't Prince - that was Warner Bros. Essentially Prince had nothing to do with the Hits package other than supply 4 extra songs. Now you wanna follow in Warner's footsteps or Prince's??!!

You should put Diamonds and Pearls together with Gold. I see you've already put Peach with Cream...

Sign o The Times with Money Don't Matter 2Nite was a good combo choice too.

4 extra songs... Okay, what about Power Fantastic & 4 The Tears In Your Eyes (acoustic)?
Who decided to release those? wink

Yeah, you're right - it was 6 songs. But apart from that, nothing. According to The Vault, Warner's actually paid him money NOT to get involved since they were behind schedule on the project already!

Okay, I'll stop it now.

No its a good Idea and you've made a good list but for the love of Pete please
put it in some kind of order!! lol

Maybe its my OCD kicking in but I hate things that don't have some kind of
organization to them. If you don't like chronological, how about alphabetical??
If you will, so will I

The way i order my mix cd's is by what i feel when I hear a certain song and what songs are good next to each other. Every once in a while i may make it a lil erratic just to give me a jolt. Another good idea if u need order is a mood cd. have one with all his slow songs that i like when i'm feelin a lil 'cheeky' wink. But i do agree with the, some r openers some r closers theory. Alphabetize! Now that is just too much!
Shake....shake, shake, shake.

One thing you might try is ending one of the cd's with some live stuff to give this person a feel for Prince and his awesome guitar skills. There is nothing like ending a cd with an epic live version of Purple Rain!
If u and I were just ten feet closer, then I'd make u understand

I think its's great...the only things I would change are..#1 Chronological order...Although I do so enjoy having them all mixed up like that as well..it keeps the disc 'fresh'... #2 I would have never started Disc 1 Track 1 with 'Gold'...You need something that really catches their attention..something funky..something really 'Prince...'if u know what I mean...

I would love to put the 1985 live VHS version on it...

I think I'm gonna extend the compilation with a complementer CD with these songs:

Sexy Dancer
Irresistible Bitch
Baby I'm A Star
Erotic City
Anotherloverholenyohead
Glam Slam
Scandalous
The Arms Of Orion (sorry lol )
New Power Generation
Insatiable
The Morning Papers
Pink Cashmere
Letitgo
Dolphin
Dinner With Delores
Somebody's Somebody
The One
Strange Relationship (ONA live)

What about DMSR...? You don't have it at all on any of your discs, and it would definatley grab their attention...?!
