*ATTACK OF THE PRINCE CLONES* In honor of next week's box office fun, how about a Prince clone roll call? Anybody missing?
- Georgio <--- hah hah!!! - Eddie Murphy - Christopher Max - Tony Lemans - Ready For The World [Jesse Johnson has been respectfully removed from this list] [This message was edited Sat May 11 0:12:40 PDT 2002 by S3V3N]

S3V3N said: - Jesse Johnson Aww that's cold... I don't think Jesse belongs there. He was always part of the MPLS scene, and even Prince has said no one can play an axe like Jesse. I think "clones" is better suited to those who had NO connection with Prince at all but still jocked his sound. Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam / Full Force jocked his sound with "All Cried Out"--a Prince Purple Rain slow jam ripoff with the dramatic piano, and Lisa decked out in lace and all. Some cat named Sam Bostick had a mini jam called "Cold Tears" straight rip off. RFTW for sure. "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32

Oh no, not this tired ass, disrespectful thread AH-GHAIN? Okay...Tony LeMans recorded his CD at Paisley Park, but he was OBVIOUSLY jocking Sly Stone, NOT Prince. Even the title of his single "Higher Than High" is a lift from Sly & The Family Stone. The man is gone now, so have SOME respect for the dead. He didn't even get a chance to show his full potential. RFTW did ride the Minneaoplis thing, but they never really sounded like Prince. Georgio? Yep. The prequel to Rico Suave. Chirstopher Max was INFLUENCED, but wasn't any more of a clone than TTD...WHO DEFINATELY IS NOT A PRINCE CLONE. Mickey Free...that baztid would Probably have made a Prince skin suit if he could have. I never liked him. He sucked. Definate Clone. How about that one hit wonder Nickki? That's more of a clone. Eddie Murphy tried to be Prince on one song and Stevie Wonder on another. I still don't know who he was imitating on "Party All The Time", but it wasn't Prince. The Knack, maybe? Ray Parker Jr. ? I don't know. Even Rick James couldn't help him.
