Just My imagination is one of my favorite guitar solos by any artist ever, though it's become a cliche choice among fans. I also really dig his solo on Red House on the rave un2 the year 2000 DVD. Joy In Repetition, Let's go Crazy, I could never take the place of your man, Play in the sunshine are all up there too.

Probably would be the 10 minute guitar solo that he does for Purple Rain in the P & Revolution LIVE video. It's a watershed moment.

Are you talking about the solo(s) from the song that's on the PR album, or the extended version solo? Also, there's about a five-minute guitar solo during the 21:00 version of America that rocks pretty hard. Long time ago, I had put together a compilation tape of guitar solos from Prince albums. It sounded pretty interested at the time, but if I played it back today, I might not get the same feeling.

the intro to "bambi", and the bass solos in the 12" versions of "sd" and "la la la, he he hee".

hand clap intro to bambi is not a guitar solo.
it's a melody of the song. or maybe your talking about underttaker version?

My favourites:
- 'The Ride' from the undertaker (the version on Live at the Alladin isnt bad either ) - I could never take the place of your man (on record, thin sounding, but inspired, soulfull) - The Question of You (Very clean and bright sounding, just the right notes!) - Gold (this one just kicks in with such power and urgency, love it!) - While my quitar gently weeps, at the RRHOF (maybe a bit too long, but great otherwise) - Zannalee (very loose, improvised, but definitely Strong) - Temptation (an overlooked one, i think, but maybe Princes best bluesrock solo, on the level of Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy) - Joy in repitition (on the original bootleg-version, on the releases version on Graffiti Bridge, he mixed this great solo down, a bloody shame)

GEEZE.... Stupid i did forgot these one....My all time favourite Prince guitar solo....
Rave unto the Joy Fantastic from "Small club, second show that night" (bootleg from 1988) The version of this song is totally different from that on the 1999 (thats a dull, lifeless version) this one is Hendrix influenced Funk / Rock in a fast pace. He plays a version of this song thats longer then 15 minutes, near the end there is a fast guitarsolo (that sounds to be 'doubled' on the mixboard). The first time i heard it i thougt i 'died', this is such a great guitarsolo, His Best ever!....and i almost forgot it....lol

Nice solo, perfect for the song and to make non-Prince fans jaws drop but my favorite solos would be more bluesy, melodic solos.

Here are two of my favorites.
1. His solo on "While my guitar Gentley Weeps" 2. "Purple Rain" Everytime I hear either one of these, I just shake my head. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"
