admitting, i am a die hard fan of the 1993-1995 come/gold material
and everything surrounding that era, like the tracks that ended up
on Crystal Ball or other projects. but as a single, tight disc of
music, I enjoy "The Truth" most of all the 90's releases.

i don't really understand people's constant argument that the use
of synths and sound fx through out the album ruine the songs.



first up, there aren't that many, and wherever they are, they only
do a good job at enhancing the atmosphere of the tracks.

yup, I rank this album in the very top-regions of Prince releases.

Hands down.....Prince's absolute worst album. It's even more boring than "Parade".

Yeah, I like "The Gold Experience". It was one of his best from the 1990s.

i dig this album bit i find i have 2 be in the mood 2 listen to it. I love dont play me, the truth and welcome 2 the dawn very simple but powerful songs in my opinion.. but i 2 am a die hard fan of the come / gold era, prince at his nastiest and i fucking love it!

I remeber when the truth web page streamed the tracks 'the truth' and 'don't play me'. The quality was so poor but it added to the music. The Truth is a great cd. The only song that ruins it is Animal Kingdom. That songs sucks Other than that, the rest of the cd is excellent.

You know...a lot of his music after the gold exp...tends to be an iffy subject amongst the fans. There are some really great ablums that he put...just not in the normal way. The Truth being one of them.

Songs like Don't play me, Circle of Amore, Dionne, and Fascination (there's a single that never was) are up there with the best of his music. Just because it got tucked in with something else...along with the real tucked in filler (Kamasutra) it sorta got lost int he shuffle.

I feel the same way about Rave In2...which is far superior to it's original. Chocolate Invasion and SLaughterhouse each are lost ing the suffle. Yaeh we know them...the general public does not. Such a shame.

As for the truth, its a really mood sensitive album for me. I do love
Don't Play Me and there are several other great songs on it but this one makes
me sleepy if I play it to long.

and as a bonafide 90's Prince fan, this one can't touch The Gold Experience
