Days of Wild--Maybe it's great when you're at Paisley Park, but after the hype, this one let me down big.
If I Was Your Girlfriend--Great conceptually, but pretty dull musically. Forever in my Life--Wants to be Everyday People, but is missing any real hook, structure, or instrumentation. Lady Cab Driver--Great groove, completely ordinary song Wherever U Go Whatever U Do--having a lynn drumbeat does not a classic Prince song make. Plus the hook is stolen from Richard Marx, yech. honorable mention: Wasted Kisses--hardly the standout people say it is (it is better than I Like Funky Music, though!) I wish every artist's overrated songs were as good as these! [Edited 4/13/05 16:27pm] [Edited 4/14/05 14:32pm] Check this song out at:

4. Bob George - Wasn't ground-breaking... Prince playing "catch-up". catch up with what.....? The Beatles? This is not a rap. It's a short film. The beat is stupidly simple, to fit the lead character. This is so instinctively brilliant, that I.... I need to go eat, I'm hungry! If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Wow, how could "When 2 R in Love" make anyone's list? That's like one of the top 5 "Prince-Helped-Me-Get-The-Pussy" songs! If you weren't in the drawers by the time he murmurs "Can you hear me?" then you weren't gettin' the ass at all! LOL! Desire, it covers our faces

1. La, La, La, Hee, Hee, Hee-Dog sounds? Let me repeat that. Dog sounds?! Awful, awful stuff with those barking effects.
2. The Ballad of Dorothy Parker-Good song in general, but so terribly ordinary overall. What's so special about it? 3. How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore?-Those clunky piano notes are kind of unpleasant. 4. What Do U Want Me 2 Do?-I can't believe some Orgers actually thought this should've been a single. This song is so tedious and dull. 5. Days Of Wild-When I finally got around to hearing this song, I was so let down. It's so "there" it's not even funny. Just an ordinary song. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

REBIRTH OF THE FLESH and ELECTRIC INTERCOURSE - I don't have tons to say about either of these songs, which pretty much says it all. People freak out over these tunes, and I don't get it. They're okay. Nothing special. I like reading about the recording of these songs more than I care to hear the actual songs. I always felt like "Wally" would be a bit of a letdown too, if I ever got to hear the legendary recording of it. Sometimes there's a reason he doesn't release this stuff. They're interesting demos and they make for fun bootleggage fodder, but they've never had the dynamics of his released material of that time - not in my opinion, anyway. AN HONEST MAN - I don't think I've ever gotten through this track all the way without hitting the skip button. It bugs. The cover version by DUMP is a little better, actually. "Overrated" means, lot´s of people love this song and maybe even critics find a good word. This does not match with these three nearly unknown titles. My list: 1. U got the look (boring mainstream pop) 2. Little Red Corvette (boring mainstream pop/rock) 3. Take me with You (I guess Prince loves this song, you have to hear it in nearly every concert) 4. Housequake (just my feeling, maybe I´m wrong) 5. U got the look (twice, because it´s really boring)

"Dorothy" is so tight cuz he's telling a story - STRAIGHT UP! About some time he spent in a diner. Dishwater Blondes, Bubble Baths, Joni Mitchell and shit! -- You can't fade that! LOL! As for "HCUDCMA"...That haunting piano is tight...maybe it's the system you're listening to it on, dawg! LOL! Desire, it covers our faces

Something in the Water (Does Not Compute)- 5. God- Love the instrumental, but the b-side version no thank you! Something in the Water (Does Not Compute) -- the piano version, in particular --is one of his best songs. I love the way it sounds -- very much a song for the age, when computers were first taking over the world. It's hot and cold at the same time. Whatever praise it garnered was richly deserved.

Many songs are overrated here on the org. In the real world the only song of his that was really overrated was probably Raspberry Beret.
Here on the org I'd go with Mountains, Adore, Housequake (two times), and DMSR.

1) I Hate U--Nothing special, boring to me. Terrible single choice.
2) Computer Blue--Song just leaves me cold. 3) Girls and Boys--It's alright but I never felt it like some. 4) Anna Stesia--Once again, a song that is alright but I don't understand the complete depth of love that some people have for this song. 5) Anything on The Rainbow Children--Huh...what...I just fell asleep thinking about the album. Slam me now with the strength of 1000 angry Orgers!!! All good things they say never last...

Slam me now with the strength of 1000 angry Orgers!!! Anna Stesia is by and large the only choice that kicks me in the groin, and since you say you don't understand the depth of love people have for it, allow me : Ever "partied" excessively for far too long and found yourself completely exhausted physically and emotionally? Well, this song is about the particular moment you realize you're in danger of becoming a ghost. It packs an emtional punch because it's obvious Prince had one of these moments and put it to music, complete with the path to salvation he's chosen. Not too hard to understand why fans like it -- it's one of Prince's most earnest and heartfelt confession.
