HOW good was that New Years Paisley Park show!?? 1987/1988

I had this tape for wuite a while without watching yet because I wasnt feelin Prince because I started getting in2 Mariah and Madonna again.

But for the funk of it, I threw it in and didnt expect what I was witnessed to....

GOT DAYM HE TORE THAT SHOW UUUPP!!

From starting off with "Hot Thing", breakin right in2 a soulful "If I Was Your Girlfriend (in his Lovesexy outfit by the way drool ) unexpectedly doing "Lets Go Crazy and "Purple Rain" partying on "Gonna Be A Beautiful Night" "U Got The Look"

man..when Miles came out IT WAS OVER! It was like Prince became one of these stars today in my eyes. He looked like a baby who was learning from his teacher as Miles played back and forth on the stage very ... sly and in control.

Boy when he left, Prince returned in full form robot with Cat, catwalking, detroit crawls, talkin bout Wally, the damn show was not to be fucked with. I wish Paisley park would sell that show for $20 a pop cuz MMM MMM MMMMM!!! People need to see thsi!

I know yall probably talked about this show already but hey I had to say sumthin i 'just cant keep it to maself' as he said on...."Lovesexy!!"

girls first.....girls first

Classic gig with the best live version of "Sign O The Times" ever, complete with that "chewy" and bassless guitar sound... KICKASS!

He was truly at the very top of his game, and KNEW it. I've never seen him so monstrously confident, in a way that is so fucking charming you not only come right straight out of your pants, they disintegrate right off your ass.

Great show.

"Come get your rope. modern technology".

lol

"aint playing shit"

before i saw the show i had just the audio version of it. I always assumed that prince said the line above in reference to the groove that the band was locked in on i.e I saw it as Prince boasting that even though the groove was so stripped down it was STILL so funky - "ain't playing shit". It really suprised me upon actually watching the video to learn that the comment was in reference to his keyboard not working!

Some other quotes from this show i liked:

"Somebody tell me i haven't got the funkiest band in showbizness!..we'll take all comers, we don't mind, we don't discrimate"!

"If ya let me Stayyyyyeeeee.....shit, you can't fuck with us"

"I've got oil on my hands"

"Jim Walsh(?) you.grover from sesame st, seven eyed..Dot dot dot, happy new year"!

gotta go and watch that now! lol

"Ya'll want a lot for $200! Nah, i'm just kiddin"

"We're gonna be jamming for about 20 minutes...On the same song! I don't care, I don't care".

I love the Auld Lang Syne intro to Purple Rain, too. The part where he goes, "i've gotta do one" and then plays a beautiful guitar solo. Great version of Purple Rain, maybe even my favourite.

NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS. You want to discuss them, that's OK, but NO OFFER TO COPY, NO REQUESTS TO COPY,
NO "WHERE CAN I GET", etc. NO POSTING OF LINKS TO THESE SITES EITHER.
