i happen to think he's always been clean, i don't believe the Ecstacy story that inspired the black album either. You can write a song based on drug use without resorting to using them. It's well documented some associates of his blew what little money they made, right back up their noses. He didn't have to look very far for inspiration.

obviously people don't need drugs to be creative, and many bands produce excellent music without any drug influence, not everybody is the same.

and yes, you shouldn't need drugs and if you're 'interesting' enough looking at the night sky can be exciting, though i didn't think astronomers were so highly regarded.

Yes, drugs do affect you but occasional use doesnt affect much. Big Macs have an adverse affect on your health and body, as does all proccessed food, saturated fats, pollution from cars... the list is endless. But I'll bet you eat processed food once in a while. And i'll bet you don't wash fruit and vegetables as thoroughly as you should and so you ingest thousands of carcinogenic chemicals.
Also, drugs don't always make you act the fool.

I'd say your perception of drugs is naive but all too common.

If the general public had better education about drugs, maybe people would start to realize that perhaps a joint or two isn't going to ruin your life after all.
