Help me convert my man!

My husband has come around!! He is still deployed but has asked me to make a compilation of any Prince songs I think he would like So he can listen to it while he is there. He finally wants to see what the deal is! He has a few favorites but nothing really deep. Just the usual stuff non-fans would say they like. So, I'm asking for your opinions on which P song (or songs) you think really rock. He leans more toward rock than jazz or funk so that is what I am looking for.
I'm gonna count every second, every minute, each and every hour of every day, 'till you come on back, come on back........

you're the Prince fan, figure it out. if you don't know what Prince jams rock, you just ain't there yet. perhaps you need to be schooled before you try converting anyone else.
this message brought to you by logic.

If you have no suggestions don't bother typing, fool. If you read the question it asks for songs you, (as in other people, not ME) think rock. I know which ones I like but seeing as I am not everyone I just wanted other opinions. BTW, I am old enough to be as schooled as I am gonna get, and I am also wise enough not to be an smart-ass prick to complete strangers.

Sometimes i feel that people don't look at the wider picture when examining their similarities with their partner. For instance, say that i love basketball but my partner loves swimming. People would often be quick to say that they and their partners are different in this particular area. However, if you look at the wider picture, you both may not like the same activity but you both obviously love sport. Similarly, when i here of people wanting to 'convert' a partner or a friend to Princes music, it may be a lost cause. They may love great music but not prince. So, again, look at the wider picture, u are both avid music lovers. instead, discuss why you each like particular artists. dealing with differences from the wider perspective often reveals those in the relationship to be more similar than initially believed.

game, set and match with that one buddy....

my wife didn't really want to listen to any prince stuff but she would tolerate it when i wanted to. But, once she heard pink cashmere she couldnt stop humming the tune and slowly wants to hear more similar songs. With prince, there is always a way in to someone's head and heart.

i think what u need 2 do is make a cd of why U like Prince...

it will help him think of u when he hears it AND the way 2 convert anyone 2 anything is telling the story from ur heart

i took my sis 2 musicology last summer and after she was a sponge...

so.. i made her a cd of the songs that mean alot 2 me...

needless 2 say...songs like.. 1999...Soft and Wet ...Kiss..etc didn't make the cut....great songs..but....not why i listen 2 Prince..

anyway..i think u get my vibe here..have fun with it... cool

Let's see, my husband is not a "real" Prince fan either. I was taken by surprise a few days ago when he bought some new speakers.
After he got everything wired up and ready to test the new speakers, he asked me to put on some Prince.
He likes the rock, bluesy stuff more then the rap, dance stuff.
So I played "The Ride", "SOTT" , the acoustic stuff from Crytal Ball. I stopped there, I did not want to push it.
Next I think I will play some stuff off of Rainbow Children, there's a few soulful, rock, bluesy songs on there, after I fast forward through the spooky voice stuff in the beginning of the songs.

Good luck & have fun making your special music CD for your man.
Make sure you add a few that you really love so he thinks of you while he listens.

Why would you want your man being 'converted' to Prince music? Are you a Jehovah Witness wink

Serious now.....let people find out themselves what kind of music they like the most, and feel attached to....

I mean, i would definately have no problem with my girlfriend NOT being a prince fan..... I mean, preferences about musical taste doesnt define a relationship, and secondly, i love so many other artists that i wouldnt give a damn about my girlfriend not liking prince...

I agree, midnightfunk, but loves goes deeper then enjoying the same artist...
I mean, a girlfriend who enjoys music that is very opposite to my personal taste, can be very inspiring in the end.....

Thanks everyone! Your opinions have helped a lot. And I do suppose "convert" was the wrong word choice. Also, the point about just appreciating the fact that he is a music fan is a very good one. We do celebrate our differences. I just wanted to be able to share this with him, since this particular music has played a big part in my life. I just wanted him to "get it" and understand me a little better, more than just accepting that I like Prince. Ya know?

Someone had said earlier that C & D is cool and I totally agree. Or the rock tunes from TGE or Purple Rain. Musicology is also very good for getting non-fans in the groove.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I know how you feel. My husband is a huge music fan. He has over 500 CD's that he keeps in his CD changers & plays non-stop when he is home. He has introduced me to a wide range of different music, stuff I would never hear on the radio.
He admitted to me that he does appreciate Prince for his enormous talent but he will never "dig" him like I do.
I guess I should be glad that I do not have to share my collection with him or worry about any of my Prince CD's getting lost in any of his CD changers, never to be found again.
I am just glad he realizes his talent, the rest is all for me!!
lol
