Does anyone else wish that the version of Alphabet Street on LoveSexy would have just ended witht he last "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah" ?

I mean, Kat's rap annoys me everytime I hear it.
It's the primary reason why I ripped then tracked the damned album.

I love LoveSexy--it's brilliant, but it has that one annoying rap in it that kills me.

Cat's rap on Lovesexy bothers me MUCH less than Tony M.'s rapping and Scrap D. and Doug E Fresh on subsequent albums -- somehow Cat's rap doesn't date the album as much as the other guest rappers do.

His lyrical pro's smoothed over albums that otherwise would have felt empty or light of substance.

I always liked that Cat rap... but then, I never thought of it as rap - more of a schoolyard chant, something you'd jump rope to.

Ah the Cat Rap, I remember a huge group of us walking from the Eifel Tower over the bridge all singing the Cat Rap, dressed up to the nines, all the Parisians staring at us as if we had landed from Mars, killing the afternoon waiting for the evening when we would see the opening night of the Lovesexy Tour. Nearly got arrsted by the Gendarmes for splashing about in the fountain whilst all singing Take Me With You. Apparently you aren't allowed in the fountain!! My God those were the good days!!

Thank you. Apparently some people take these songs more seriously than Prince does. Rap is mostly about the delivery. Tony M's problem is he's trying to sound hard-core on a Prince song-- and with corny, cliche'd lyrics at that. Kat (and Sheila on hers) is just having fun.

I watched my Sacrifice of Victor tape for the second time ever and remembered why I never watch it. Mavis, the Steeles, and Tony M in particular ruin it. That and the setlist.

well I think the cat rap is the best part of the song.... it sounds hard and ghetto, and I think the lyrics of it are great... especially the horny pony part... so, I don't understand your perception at all.... I was very disappointed that the rap wasn't on the A side back when the single came out... the song would have been much more popular for sure. That was when people were becoming interested in "rap"... and this would have ridden on in on the salt n peppa vibe.
