True but my question was intended to find out what songs that Prince sang that were inspired by his relationship with her.

Hmmm. I heard that was about somebody else but seems very likely it could have been about Vanity as well.Somebody also suggested Something In the Water was about her too.

I have a feeling it may have been written for Susannah but he let Vanity asume it was about her. I'm sure that kinda thing happened alot.

Yeah I wrote that about Something In The Water last week sitruk7, I've always thought that song was about her. I wonder who "LET'S PRTEND WE'RE MARRIED" was about?

Let's be honest, 'Vanity's ' music is prince music. She was the definition of hot. The 'Beautiful Ones' ? I've never heard that song associated with Susannah. That song may have been written before he was involved with her.

That's right. Keep in mind P was messing with not only Vanity, but also Susan Moonsie and Jill Jones around the time of the 1999 album. Even though it was originally intended for the time, maybe International Lover was also inspired by Vanity.

Let's not forget the other bevy of nameless, faceless women he was involved with. God people not every song he wrote was necessarily about a woman we know about. He was with many women who had no fame or preformance aspirations whatsoever. Many women in Minneapolis have dated Prince or gone out with him who are not singers, dancers or artists but just everyday women.

Didn't he write that for Apollonia? And then he realised that it was too strong of a song and gave it to Sheila E.? Apollonia was mad

I would bet that many of the songs on '1999' were inspired by his relationship with Vanity.I always assumed that "When Doves Cry" may have been about Vanity too, since he wrote it not too long after they broke up.

He let Apollonia think it was about her, but it was written after Vanity left the Purple Rain production. I think Prince was pretty hurt by that.

Could be but I think that may have been a farewell to Susan Moonsie from what I've heard.

That's right, When Doves Cry was about Susan Moonsie (the black girl).
Goodnight, sweet Prince.
