I still want Prince to get back with Vanity I was just thinking, I've never seen Prince fit with anyone the way he fit with Vanity. They seemed to be soulmates to me. The sexuality, the looks, the whole package. I interviewed Vanity (Denise Matthews) in 1997 for a Washington City Paper article (only a blurb on her coming to MD. to preach was printed) and I spent about 4 hours with her on this particular day. She was adamant about the fact that she left Prince, that he didn't leave her. She was so insistent about it that it was clear, that even after 13 years, it was still a sore spot for her. When we talked, I didn't try to delve into the issue too much, because she was very focused on her newfound role as an evangelist and while she talked about her past life with the drugs and sex, and how God brought her out of that, she never really touched on her relationship with Prince. One funny thing that happened though, was the two of us drove over to a CVS drugstore to get her "some things to make me smell good," as she said, and when I suggested Caress Body Wash, she held her hand up like she was repulsed by it saying, "Ugh! That reminds me of Prince!" I'm like, "ok..." It was SO clear that even after all that time he was still in her system. And judging by the looks of Prince's women since Vanity, she is still in his system as well. Most of his women resemble her. It may be wishful thinking, but seeing as how they have both found God, it'd be nice for them to at least try to be friends again; though I don't think Mani would be digging that too hot... Pax

Caress Body Wash reminds her of Prince's large dollops of semen. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Now that was one fierce pairing! Vanity in her prime was one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen in my lifetime and she and Prince did look fantastic together. But keep a few things in mind, Prince was a control freak and Vanity wasn't one who liked to feel like she was being manipulated. Prince was a womanizer and it pissed Vanity off. This wasn't the most ideal relationship so why repeat it? It's been like 20 years, both have moved on, married, divorced, re-married (in Prince's case), and found God in their own rights. I think physically Vanity set the mold for Prince's future women, but I'm not 100% sure that she possessed the total package of what he was looking for. If so, they'd still be together... I'm gonna make you love me...

I agree; just wishful thinking. Man, there are some ignorant people on this board. Some of the responses to my post were not necessary. Damn. Pax

Why do people think Vanity and Prince were soul mates? Just because they looked like eachother? It didn't seem like Prince was all that into her besides sex and using her for armcandy. Journalists said they were shocked that Vanity and Prince who were supposedly as close as sweethearts barley spoke and pretty much didn't hang out all that much. Prince seemed way more enchanted with Jill Jones and Wendy's sister around that time. I get the feeling that Vanity was was too emotional for him. I'm not saying he didn't like her but I think he was just more into her body and sexiness than her personality.
That being said they looked way hot together and I am sure they had many nights of hot sex.

since they did look somewhat similar to each other, that'd be akin to masturbation every time they did the do.

I think the two will forever have a place in each other's hearts. Even if the two never speak to each other again. The only 2 women in my opinion that favors Vanity is Mani and Devin Devasquez(she dated Prince's father first and I believed Prince tapped that too). Appolonia didn't look like Vanity to me. I don't know about the two of them being soulmates, but they were definitely 2 people who were in love with each other.
I wish Vanity wouldn't be so hard on herself about her past. We all make mistakes in our life. But the good that is the Lord gives us a second chance and the important thing is she isn't living that life anymore.

My only regret is that Vanity didn't appear in 'Purple Rain' with Prince. The two of them would have really heated up the screen.Apollonia was cool, but let's face it,she was just playing a role that was specially designed for Vanity....you know, just filling the shoes that someone else left behind.
It's also sad that we never got a second Vanity 6 album
