This guy did not play Mary's father. The guy who played Mary's father had a bunch of moles on his face and way more wrinkles. Wanted: Virtual Sugar Daddy to help me buy stuff on Farmville and move up the ranks. Use of Viagra not authorized. Get your two minutes and go!

I love the stories that the actor who actually played Mary's dad, Stephen Berkoff, tells about Prince's directorial style. In was in one of the bios and Stephen said he got Terrence Stamp's castoff. He says that Prince had a peculiar obsession with the actor's speaking the text exactly as written, with no room for improv. And if prince saw something on the monitor he didn't like, Berkoff and the rest of the cast/crew would hear the dreaded sound of Prince's high heels clomping across the floor.
As a movie director, Prince makes a great omnisexual pop star. All good things they say never last...

That would be Stephen Berkoff. He was also the bad guy in Octopussy and Beverly Hills Cop (continuing the long tradition of English actors playing bad guys in American movies). Of course, Mary was played by Kristin Scott-Thomas who also went onto greater things with 4 Weddings and a Funeral and The English Patient.

i think Stephen Berkoff thought it was going to have the same success as
Purple Rain. u cant really blame him for disowning the role. i thought he was great in it though. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

You should try to catch Terence Stamp on one of the old movie channels in this film called "The Collector" from 1965! It's the kind of movie that stays with you, sort of like "The Professional" does.
