Vanity has changed her life around... she almost died from a drug over dose... she gave her life to God and is now a minister... It seems like everyone who worked with prince became religious afterwards like Sheila E. who is on every gospel show on bet and Lisa and Wendy... I think even Dez is now religious...

I would bet that many of the songs on '1999' were inspired by his relationship with Vanity.I always assumed that "When Doves Cry" may have been about Vanity too, since he wrote it not too long after they broke up.

When Doves Cry was about Susan Moonsie (the black girl) not Vanity or Apollonia.
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

Could be but I think that may have been a farewell to Susan Moonsie from what I've heard.

That's right, When Doves Cry was about Susan Moonsie (the black girl).

Yeah,I've heard that. It's amazing that Prince was messing around with both Susan and Vanity at the same time! LOL.If Brenda had not been married,he probably would have started something with her too...lol...Prince was a big-time playa back then!

Dugen

Not only Susan and Vanity but he was on/off will Jill Jones as well. Then came Sheila & Susannah. She had a boyfriend when she 1st met Prince, he then wrote "The Beautiful Ones" 2 win her (Susannah) over. I read that "17 Days" was intended 4 Vanity 6s supposed 2nd album, then Apollonia 6 along with "Take Me With U", "Manic Monday" and "The Glamorous Life". But back 2 Jill, I read that in '83 he set aside "Mia Boca" 4 her. It then got me wondering... was that song in Purple Rain at all? The drum part I mean, I know it was in UTCM but what about PR. The Lake Minnetonka scene maybe? I'm 2 lazy 2 get up and check right now.

I can't see Brenda being his type at all. Too strong and fiesty. He always seems to go for the soft, feminine, obediante types.
