in my enlightened opinion,i beleive Black album to be one of princes darkest and perhaps ,well,not the greatest ,but definitely up there in my top 5 ..

the adrenaline rush associated with a listen to DEAD ON IT ,CINDY C,WHEN 2 R IN LOVE.,SUPERCALIFRAGISEXY N ROCK HARD IN A FUNKY PLACE is incomparable

DEAD ON IT whether stoned ,e'ing,trippin,cokin,drunk,whateva or just strait is a mind blowing flow of sonics to the brain and is in my view ,one of the best songs he has ever done,,,even tho im a big fan of hip hop..he did have a good point ,,its unfortunate he ended up employing THE SINgLE worst rapper that ever lived TONY M ...

its really my favorite prince album... but its mythos helped too... you had to pay top dollar and get it all illegally behind the counter back in the day.

I wish to the dark funk god that black album will be remastered and reissued one day.

The Black Album is one of Prince's best albums. Dead On It is awesome!

i am very happy that this is the general concensus regarding the black album...\ yeah ok i was holdin back,,its almost my fave album n its funky as fuck,,,i wish there were credits tho..i wanna know who played bass n did the drum work for it ,,its incredible funk

I absolutely love The Black Album, and in my opinion its cancelling marked the beginning of the downturn in Prince's fortunes. "Lovesexy" is toss in comparison.

oh absolutely lovesexy is a good album but it dont compare ..

Prince was definitely in the zone in '88, Black album is proabbly in my top 5.

I walked the streets of NYC for two days trying to find a copy of the LP. I handed a record store money and hoped the guy wouldn't screw me. Three copies of the album showed up on Christmas morning, in brown paper bag. Like a playboy. At the same time the eye know 12 " came out with Scarlet pussy as the b side.
It was a special.

Not to mention the album kicks ass. I think that the black album and lovesexy are joined in there contrast. A ying and yang kind of thing. Hate and love.
