ONA studio album - my fav prince album.....

...not much interest to y'all but i wanted to know if anybody else actually agreed with me?

everything about it gives me goosebumps, my highlight would have to be avalanche.

The number of people whom have demanded to know who it is when i have played it in my bar, home, car..... they are all amazed when i say that it is Prince.

I have given this CD to countless people (i know i shouldn't but how else can you get hold of this album?) it makes me feel i'm doing my part to for the prince revival!!!

sorry just had to get it off my chest. anybody agree then?

I have ordered all the ONA stuff. One is labelled piano. Is that the one you're referring to?
The other is a 3 cd live set.

Woof! Grrr!

Butcherdog says that the album has some moments of stunning beauty but the rest he'd bury out in the yard.

Avalanche Woof!

One Nite Alone Woof!

The rest GRRRRR

woof! butcherdog also asks that why can't prince stick to just the acoustic instrument the album claims it is. e.g ONA -the 'Piano album' and 'The truth' acoustic album are full of synths which buthcher thinks spoils it.

The piano one i mean, although i do love the 3box set, the piano album is very very intimate.

The whole album is just prince and his piano.

All the tracks are downtempo although that doesn't mean they are depressing, Avalanches is (i think....i'm not very clued up on american history sorry) a song about Abraham Lincon's personal stance on the 13th amendment of the US constitution

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Prince compares all the single voices being like snowflakes in an avalanche and therefore although all the single flakes can say it isn't their fault...collectively it is.

Don't quite know if that is a synopsis but there you go chuck! wink

That's funny, I'm listening to it right now! I absolutely love this album. I think it's the best thing he's done since Gold Experience, and is his last great album so far imo.

The whole album has a chilling, atmospheric somberness and introspective poetic beauty to it. The album has a great flow to it too. It isn't overbloated like Emancipation or schizophrenic like Rave.

Avalanche is a stunner.

I made a thread a while ago with a song-by-song review, and I said then that I thought it was his most underrated album. I stand by that. I think if it got released to stores like NEWS, a lot more ppl would appreciate just how beautiful it really is.

I completely agree, apart from these two tracks I don't think the album is very interesting.
