This was a few years back though, and he does seem to have softened somewhat since. Let's hope it was just a blip. I've had some anti-gay moments myself, mind you, that was when some fella wet my bed. On a small side note,I've only recently become aware that Wendy is a lesbian. Are Wendy and Lisa together as a couple? Anyone know? I guess the water really was warm enough! As loathe as I am to keep this thread going, you at least asked a legitimate question. Wendy & Lisa WERE a couple for many years. They are now broken up, but still work together as a musical partnership. True, he never implied directly that he was., but not addressing the issue was enough to make some people think "Maybe...?" I'm sure he knew this too. Prince isn't stupid. [Edited 4/4/05 16:16pm] Now that, by all evidence, was because they were calling him names in the first place. A small, femmy guy like him would inevitably get called "gay" at some point, by some bully. I consider him appropriating some sort of ambiguity here - and wearing it with pride - in the same way gays appropriated slurs like "queer" - you know, that saps all the power out of the insult. Or overweight people who say "yeah, I'm fat, what ya gonna do about it?" Now this is an excellent post and very well said and true. Whether Prince, or anyone else for that matter, is gay or even a straight guy with feminine qualities, people will definately use words of hate to get you down and to make their own damn selves look big in front of their friends. When the person begins to flaunt the image (in a strong way) that people have tried to throw out as a so-called "insult", the "insult" loses it's power because these people are pissed that the person they are inflicting it on is not upset or letting it bother them. I grew up in the early 1980s and I couldn't have made it through my junior high and high school years without Prince. Andy is a four letter word.

I have also been called a womanizer like Prince, because I have had alot of girlfriends, girls love a guy in make up. U don't have to act like John Wayne, or gangsta like Dr. Dra to be straight. Thats a picture of Prince, this is me. [Edited 7/7/05 16:19pm] Goodnight, sweet Prince.

Now I'm starting to understand your reasons and persistance in defending that you believe Prince is straight. I don't doubt that you are straight and can certainly understand your anger towards those that would call you otherwise. From what I have seen, it is men that are overly masculine that have something to hide. As long as you don't down those that actually are gay, you and I are cool. Actually, we are on the same side in this matter. Andy is a four letter word.

rudeboynpg -I guess I owe you an apology since I have been kinda rude to you. Now that you've explained yourself, I do sorta see where you're coming from and why you've been so rabid when it comes to defending Prince's sexuality.
But I'm bisexual myself, so believe me, in no way, shape or form am I trying to put anyone down when I say I think there's a possibility Prince might be gay or bi. I'm mostly chalking it up to the laws of probability; if approximately ten per cent of the population is queer, then there's a 1 in 10 chance that the Purple Dude swings that way. But something tells me those figures just might be a touch higher when it comes to Prince. And no, it has nothing to do with the fact that he's girly as all hell. I hadn't even considered his femininity when I was thinking about it, actually. Just a feeling, I guess. There. You've said your piece, and I've said mine on the matter. Next time it comes up,(and it will again. It always does.) can we not argue about it? [Edited 4/7/05 1:32am] "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
