Prince live at First Avenue August '83

Whooooo!

What a gig; take it loads of you cats have got this. His Purple Rain performance is one of the best renditions I've ever heard him do.

Plus Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad is pure-pop-funk shizzle!

Ha! A mere incidental slip!

Yeah I was gettin my shows mixed up between First Av and the City Lights show in Saginaw in '82.

Anyways; stop knowing too much - its unhealthy! wink

ah yes.one of his best shows to me.

"Electric Intercourse" to me doesen't have enough PUNCH to have been on the Purple Rain album.maybe that's why it was only played during rehersals.

otherwise....Gimme Some Horns,....Whooo!..... cool

All I've ever seen of this show is the little snippet they showed in that Prince of Paisley Park documentary from several years back, but just from the 5 - 10 seconds they showed, it looked like he was "in rare form".

I'd love to see, or at least hear, the whole thing. sigh Maybe one day.....
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

Wow I thought I was the only one who wasn't bowled over by Electric Intercourse. It's OK but people on the Org talk like it's another Adore or Purple Rain! smile

DMSR on this tour is the ultimate DMSR. I love how Wendy screams out "Oh My God" when Prince does his scream.... it was so real.

I love the way he did "A Case of You" here, I wish he did a studio recording that way.

Sexy Dancer??? when does he feature that? Are you sure you don't mean the Gimme Some horns riff which sounds kinda like a riff off of "let's work"?

if not, please elaborate.

Didn't Dr. Fink play part of Sexy Dancer at one point?

Watch it again, I could sworn Fink played a brief part of SD on the keys.

When? You mean when he says "Piano solo?" I think that's just the same chords as DMSR.... I don't know the chords to SD so it's possible they're similar.

I think the synth horns are very similar to the riff in Le'ts Work though

CO sign on that, yeah Fink did play a small portion of "SEXY DANCER" in his solo on DMSR. You gotta be really payin attention to catch it though cause he does it so quick.
