The point is you participated in a conversation about something very personal. Would you tell Prince that it "seemed" like he was assigning blame for the death of his son?
When I started this thread I never meant in any way that Prince should have kids. I just said it's kind of sad that he doesn't, therefore paying a compliment and also expressing sadness because I wish he hadn't lost his son. It's all good natured. Alright, I give you that I did make that statement and maybe that does make me a hypcrite. But in my defense, I do firmly believe that that comment isn't on quite the same level as someone assessing Prince's life and people saying it's a "shame" he hasn't had another child or that they just "know he will" have another one, or in any way making opinions on what he 'should' do in terms of having a child. That stuff about cheese and nail polish was posted on a public website during the time he and Mayte were breaking up. It was put out there for public comsumption and you can't tell me he wasn't aware how people might take such a posting in light of what had just happened with his child. However, now is now and right now Prince isn't talking to anybody about his reproductive plans or how his life is affected by not having had another child. I really don't see anything wrong with folks saying "I wish Prince would have a child." But people who seem to think it's a "shame" he isn't a parent, or make statements on what he and Mani will do in the future regarding children or making judgements on their life in regards to their childbearing status...well, I think that's going out of bounds.

I see now that part of the controversy may be over the wording of my initial post. Therefore I have changed the thread name and part of the first post. Please let me know if this is a little less offensive. [Edited 4/1/05 12:08pm] "Life is just a party and parties weren't meant to last"

When I started this thread I wanted to post something that would generate some interest. I am very glad that this post has been very successful in that respect. Thanks to everyone (handsclaps and kaleidescope included) for your comments and opinions. Please keep 'em coming as I am enjoying it thoroughly. [Edited 4/1/05 12:08pm] I do think that's better, although I still do wonder how Prince would feel reading people discussing his reproductive life. I guess that's my issue. If he is unable to have more kids, reading some of these things might break his heart. I don't know. Maybe I'd be less sensitive to this had not what happened before, happened (with his first child, I mean). At any rate, I do think your new thread name is better.

Prince on the batman soundtrack talks about how he wants kids, but I dont think it is gonna happen. I dont know I cant picture kids with him.

Prince did have a child. He will always be a father. I hope he has been blessed with another child (and or children) with his current wife. He took some time off a few years back. I wouldnt doubt if Mani had a child then. Whatever the case may be, I wish him the best of luck. He is a great artist/musician.....he deserves nothing but the best.. Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize u simply imagined this So u lean over and give her a kiss Here on earth, here on earth, with u it's not so bad Here on earth, here on earth eye don't feel so sad Stay right here

I tend to believe Prince would be a wonderful Father. Wouldn't you like to go to school and say "my dad's name is Prince" and they'd be like "what country is he the Prince of?" And you'd be like "oh, never mind" "Life is just a party and parties weren't meant to last"

Like someone else said on this thread. He doesn't keep Mani a secret, why would he keep his children a secret. I could see him keeping Mani's pregnancy a secret so if something terrible happened he wouldn't have to go through it publicly again, but I think if he had a healthy child he would let everybody know. As I think about this thread I am realizing something. If Prince did have a child in his life I think he would not pressure him/her to be like himself, you know sho-biz and all. Prince is partly who he is because of his personal, individual upbringing. However, maybe 'ol jr. would pick some things up from Dad along the way. Prince was inspired by his own musical parents and I think Prince's son or Daughter would get to spend alot of time hanging in the studio seeing what Daddy does. [Edited 4/1/05 20:36pm] Thank You. That was me lovesymbol. You said the one thing I left out, if Mani was pregnant I have no doubt he would keep it a secret all the way until the baby was born so that way he doesn't go through what he went through before with Mayte and if everything is all and well he would let everyone know about his child. Some of the orgers just don't want to let it go and except it but that's their problem. Plus like somebody said earlier even if he did have kids there is no guarantee that his musical traits will passed on to them. Look at how some folks be doggin' Lisa Marie saying she can't sing and she's not her father. Not by a longshot.
