Does anyone else cringe when non-followers of Prince's music always say how much they loved Purple Rain?..

as if that is his only album... And do you then go on rambling about all the other albums they missed?

I do , admittedly.. But I'm getting better at keeping the Prince history lesson to myself.

BTW.. I agree Purple Rain did put him the radar, but chances are when I hear something from it on the radio, I will probably change the station..

I'm sick of that album..

It doesn't bother me. Most of my friends were huge Prince fans long before "Purple Rain" and dropped Prince once he drastically changed his style. I don't blame them because why should they spend their money on something they don't like.

The ones that get on my nerves are the ones that think "Little Red Corvette" and "Purple Rain" were Prince's first records.

I'm not tired of it.
I have made a cd of the extended and live versions - so i prefer that to the official cd or the short radio edit versions.

Everytime the movie is on tv i watch the whole thing (even though i have it on tape) - - everytime i hear a song on the radio i turn it up loud.
Let's Go Crazy is often edited on the radio, that gets me angry when they fade out.

If they're at least my age, I wanna say "The hell? How did you miss Batman and Diamonds & Pearls?" Obviously there are many albums Prince fans would argue are better than those two, but you'd think they'd at least ring a bell with people. They were pretty huge.

Not at all. It is a stunning album with some of my favourite P songs on, so why should I be tired of it? It isn't my favourite P album but I still love it loads.

Likewise, if somebody is not a big Prince fan, why shouldn't they only like Purple Rain. Not knowing as much about Prince or liking all his albums. or knowing what his first song was, doesn't make you a bad person you know. I'm not a bi MJ fan and I only ever listen to Off The Wall and occasionally Thriller. If some rabid MJ fan started slating my for not liking Dangerous, I know who I'd think the fool was.

Oh i LOve Purple Rain, because i know all the "secret meanings" and all that stuff, which "causal" fans don't get. Next time someone says they like PR, ask them about the backwards message at the end of Darling Nikki. See, it's stuff like that. People REALLY get on my nerves with WDC. BUt yeah, when someone mentions Lovesexy or something then i know i'm dealing with family. Everybody else can STFU.

PR has NEVER been one of my favs. I have a preference for his more unpopular songs.

PR has for a long time and is still one of my all time favs .. I never seem to get bored with it!

I like a lot of Prince's albums as a whole, better than Purple Rain, and the movie was ok ( I mostly remember my parents forbidding me to see it, and me watching it anyway!), but the SONG PR, I have a connection with. I love it, and will always love it. The feelings that I get when I hear PR, I only get with a couple of other songs. It has such a deep message for me!

I just listen to the outtakes and alternate takes.

I listen to the unedited tracks, way more than the actual album. Currently, Computer Blue (unedited) is my all-time favorite extended Prince song. There is just so much going on in that song.

Hearing that just upsets me. It's WRONG that it does.....but it does.

What really upsets me, ohhh don't get me started, don't even get me started is the fact that so many "current" fans have the best seats in the house at his concerts. Ughhhh! They don't know the words to any of his songs and spend the entire time getting drunk!!!! Okay, I had to vent. This happened to me two times so far.
