The only reason i don't have the album is because i literally can't stand to hear 1999 because it is SO fucking played out. GlamSlamKid...The resident clown on Prince.orgy

It's true!! I'm SO tired of hearing "1999" this and "1999" that. Didn't Prince perform the song one last time and retire it or something? GlamSlamKid...The resident clown on Prince.orgy

P gave The Time some of his "funkiest" material during this period. Before the 1999 album, P was still trying to figure out what market he should target. P had his eye on crossing over big time. That was his main goal. BUT, he fucked around and gave great material to some cats that could throwdown live, and he HAD to figure out how he could keep from getting showed up by his own creation. So, u have "Lady Cab Driver". That's P saying "Hey ya'll, look at this. Fuck The Time. This is REALLY how it's done." After seeing P for the first live on the Controversy tour, I already KNEW P could bang. (slang for being a great musician). So, I wasn't surprised when I first heard this song. That's just P getting down, period. As a musician, I've always adored this song because of his "conviction" in his playing. P sounds "pist off". U can actually hear this in his playing, like he has something to prove. The instrumental breakdown is one of the truest things, musically, P has ever done. The lead guitar section is just "stoopid", it's so good. His drumming is in the pocket. P, I don't think, would have ever even recorded this song if The Time didn't exist. 1999 album has always been and always well be my favorite album of his, and this is one of the main reasons why.

Both concerts I attended on the 1999 tour, L.A. and Long Beach, P tore Lady Cab Driver up live. But, on both shows, the band played different versions. At L.A., P soloed quite awhile and it showcased BrownMark's bass skills. At Long Beach, it was much shorter. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the version he played in Detroit (it's on City Lights) That guitar breakdown just KILLS ME! Man, if you dont like the 1999 album, you're either very very young, or there's something wrong with you... The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community.

It should be a requirement for everyone to have 1999. It's a pure party from start to finish. Glamslamkid PLEASE get the album and just start at Little Red Corvette. My appreciation for Prince grew after I brought the album when I was 15. I could understand why the album was held so highly. It's a great party album.
All Hail 1999! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one still suffering from the 2K9 hype up of the song 1999. ~~If u had a chance 2 see the future, would u try?~~

Are you kidding me? I hated this song the first time I heard it. Ooops, nope, that was All the Critics Love you in New York that I despised. My bad. Sorry. I'm going to hold my head down as I exit the room. _________________________________________
