Isn't it mainly P on live drums? One of his best examples actually. I think ti's just the Claps on the 2 and 4 that are the Linn going throughout.  |

Now I don't know the technical reasons (if there is any) but the vinyl version on my much cheaper turntable vs CD player sounds even better, the instruments are so clearly defined and it seems to have extra kick / pace (although I need to crank the volume on the amp up) when compared back to back.
Thinking about it all of my older Prince albums sound better on vinyl, with TRC can't spot anything obivious. The bass guitar on LoveSexy is another example where the CD version just can't compare. Anyway LadyCabDriver is one of my favourite songs at the mo, I was playing it when a friend popped round asked who it was (I said the year it had been released) and they thought it sounded so funky and so fresh!!! | |

I agree. I think it's because the older albums were released on CD when the technology for putting albums on CD basically sucked. Remember, they came out when nobody had ever heard of a CD. And, of course, they've never been remastered  using updated technology. The newer albums are laid right on to CDs using the latest gizmological whatzits.

Well I must admit that I had heard the album a few times on CD and it never really got me, thought it sounded dated, harsh and a bit thin, then I got this new turntable for Christmas and wham....first listen and I was hooked, that's happened to alot of the back catalogue, albums I skipped because they sonically sounded like crap. But if you go back and visit it right then you can find some amazing gems. Borrow a decent record player, dust off the vinyl and fall in love | |
