Movie Reviews

Have any of u all wrote a review on any of Prince's movies? If so plz post. Here is mine tell me what u all think...plz.

Purple Rain:
Prince Dominates

"I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain
I only wanted one time see you laughing
I only want to see you laughing in the purple rain..."

Once you hear the music, you want to see the movie. Purple Rain is jam packed with smash hits. The soundtrack includes a total of nine songs, and four of them were chart topping. The four best-selling titles are Lets Go Crazy, When Doves Cry, I Would Die 4 U, and of course Purple Rain. Even though only Prince sings on the soundtrack, there are other performers in the movie.

In addition to Prince, two other popular acts are included in Purple Rain. To bring variety to the music, the other performers played different styles of music. Morris Day and The Time sang The Bird and Jungle Love, which are both hip-hop/rap styles. The other group was Apollonia 6, and they sang the song Sex Shooter. The style Apollonia 6 sang was R&B.

Furthermore, Prince's character, The Kid, dominated the music in the movie. Prince is deserving of the role because many things that happened to his character in the movie are similar to what has happened to him during his life. Case in point, in the movie The Kid did not have a strong relationship with his father and Prince did not have a very good bond with his father either. Prince is an emotional person; therefore, he was an outstanding choice for this role.

Finally, Prince's character has many mixed emotions. In one particular scene The Kid shows mixed emotions when Apollonia buys him a guitar that he wanted. After he thanks her, she tells The Kid that she wants to join a girl group that his rival was putting together. He becomes angry out of jealously. As a result from all these struggles, in the end there is a good lesson. No matter how hard things get, never give up.

Purple Rain is an excellent movie. It is an extraordinary movie because of the soundtrack, various artists, the acting, and the struggles the characters face during the movie. I recommend this movie to any fan of diverse music genres.

"But I'm here 2 tell u
there's something else... the afterworld
A world of never ending happiness
U can always see the sun
day or night..."
"There's only three things for sure in life. We're all born, we all die, and Prince will make another record on of these days." - Alan Leeds
