strange relationship best track of the new downloads

...it just sounds so nice and organic...the 1995 tracks are overdubbed to death and "Satisfied" is ho hum and only a snippet anyway

I agree, except for the edit!

This should've been 13 and a half minutes!!!

i agree. the 1995 stuff is an interesting selection of songs, but with all the backing tracks and editing going on, it sounds like a glorified souvenir karaoke tape.

i don't see the purpose in the 'satisfied' track, though i do think a lot of people are grousing a bit too much about it. .77 (or even .99) for a minute and a half of brand spankin' new stuff isn't great, but it's hardly a rip-off. i can't even get a decent cup of coffee anymore for .99 - and to me, a minute of prince stuff is worth more than a cup of coffee (though it's a close call, believe me). that said, i was a little less than overwhelmed by the track. standard issue prince ballad taken from something we've already seen on TV. okay. thanks.

'strange relationship', however, sounds wonderful. a little bit more of it woulda been cool, but it fades out nicely and gives the meat of the song effectively enough. out of all the 'new' downloads from this weekend, this is the track that i'll definitely be giving the most play.

I agree, I downloaded the Strange Relationship track and it is damn good. It was the only track that I actually had any interest in when I checked out the revamped site. This performance of Strange Relationship is from my favorite era and with my favorite Prince band. thumbs up!

I've always thought that this perfromance of SR was great. Of course, if Prince really wanted me to download, he'd do the full concert. I've had a bootleg of this for a zillion years, but I sho wouldn't mind a better quality copy. Heck, I'd buy it just to support him.

I agree. I was psyched about the SR download, but when I played it and the entire, really cool intro to the song was cut off, I didn't even finish listening to it. I only have a couple of boots, but I had that concert on VHS. It has since detiorated so that's it's pretty close to being unwatchable now. That show is probably my favorite of all time. It also has my favorite performance of "Girls and Boys."

Just so u know, the 1995 tracks (if released in the same versions that they were in 2001) have NO overdubs.

By 1994-1995, Prince was using dozens of samples in his shows, including samples of the horn section & samples of his own background vocals, so all the weird sounds that u hear AND background vocals were actually PLAYED then.

I think it was a GREAT idea, quite revolutionnary at the time, & Tommy B. & Mr. Hayes really deserve respect cuz they were responsible 4 launching ALL these samples WHILE playing at the same time (i reamember a Tommy B interview where he said they each had a total of around 185 samples 2 launch & had 2 know them by heart, depending on the shows tracklists).

I actually never understood how this was technically possible (i mean, one sound sample is one thing, but 2 manage 2 have the background vocals of a WHOLE song PLUS the horns PLUS lotsa crazy sound effects PLUS playing live needed a spectacular, crazy coordination between the band !!!).

I agree, though, Strange Relationship is GREAT !!!

That is SUCH a good show! He should release the whole thing, along with the video of it! I'd buy both, just to have it in better quality.
