naacp performance Is it just me or did P's performance on the NAAPC awards show lack something? I mean with the exception of D.M.S.R. it just didn't move me like the rest of his performances have in the past.

in addition to "dmsr" i think he sang james brown song- "equal opportunity"??...something like that, then also "housequake" and seemed to showcase 3 other performers- the one girl sang an aretha franklin song " i ain't never loved a man like u", which was a little weird, and not sure who the guy singing was. the only thing i thought was understandable is bringing out morris day and definitely sheila e. the others didn't seem to fit- but maybe that was his way of showing how he and his bands, artists he's worked with, have grown thru the years??? while he does have an incredible band and all, i know a lot of us p fans would rather see just him, but he knows that, but that gets annoying!

I'm sure this thread'll get locked pretty soon, but to answer your question, no it's not just you. The performance was just "there". It almost lulled me to sleep when "Movin' On Up" and that ReRe song was covered. Ugh! Nothing against those performers, but it really slowed things down, and the band just seemed to lack the funk that night!! Oh Lawd, where's the SOTT/Lovesexy band when ya need them?!?!!!!?? Come back, guys!! Come back!!!!
